The Toledo NIU game will likely decide the MAC West and Conference Champion.
Pity this game will only be on ESPN3.

Knew we’d take a step back, but didn’t anticipate this hard of a fall, even with a new passing game. We are kinda like BG last year.

Didn’t expect 6-6 (figure we’ll manage to get by Kent, and then you and Toledo will eat our lunches). Could’ve easily dropped those Buffalo and EMU OT games too.

Like you guys, I have great memories of our BCS/NY6 bowl season. But a multi-year run challenging the MACC, like you all had, looks not to be in the cards.

As both NIU and WMU have found out over the past few years, MAC success is based very heavily on having the best QB in the conference. Woodside's QB rating is nearly 30 points higher than the next guy in the conference and his Y/A is 2+ higher. Unless NIU's defense has a lockdown performance and the running game (without Huff) gets going, Toledo should win the conference this year. I hope I'm wrong and that this is one of the few years where the best defense trumps the best QB/offense

I totally agree with the idea that the team with the best QB wins. We had a 4-5 year span with the one of the best QB's in the conference. Now, our D is playing fairly well (except for a few blown coverages in the secondary).

The question is, can the best D beat the best QB tonight. I am not sure we can beat Toledo without a couple of takeaways. Hopefully, our QB will have another improved week under his belt. I like his progress and I think he will continue to improve. I am not sure if it is enough. His consistency needs to be much improved tonight to win. We also need our field goal and punt teams to be spot on as well.

We will know in 12 more hours I guess.

MAC West is brutally tough this year. CMU is solid, beat Kansas, Ok State last year. Toledo looks tough 2nite, but probably wont run the table.
