Ambassador Haley to UN General Assembly: Get Bent, new Sheriff in town
http://www.newsobserver.com/news/nation-...80821.html

Quote: Ambassador Nikki Haley blasted the United Nations Wednesday in a defiant speech to the 193-member General Assembly before it adopted a resolution calling for an end to the U.S. economic embargo on Cuba.

Haley called the long-standing debate “political theater.”

“Let’s be honest about what we really see going on here,” Haley said. “This assembly does not have the power to end the U.S. embargo. It is based in U.S. law, which only the United States Congress can change.”

The United States voted Wednesday against the U.N. resolution condemning the American trade embargo against Cuba after abstaining last year, during the administration of Barack Obama, for the first time in 25 years.

Quote:Haley said the United States is opposing the resolution in solidarity with the Cuban people “and in the hope that they will one day be free to choose their own destiny.”

“Each year, this Assembly’s time is wasted considering this resolution,” Haley told the assembly. “And the United States is subjected to all manner of ridiculous claims – anything to deflect attention from the regime that is actually responsible for the suffering of the Cuban people.”

Quote:She also said she wanted to clear up any questions about why the United States would change its vote on the same resolution just a year later. She acknowledged some will not understand how the United States “could passively accept this resolution last year and energetically oppose it this year.”

“To those who are confused as to where the United States stands, let me be clear: as is their right under our Constitution, the American people have spoken,” Haley said. “They have chosen a new president, and he has chosen a new ambassador to the United Nations.”

She has been highly effective so far. Very good choice for that position.

When Trump decides to go back to NY in 2020, we can nominate Haley for President.

She's competent, tough and confident in who she is.

I'm assuming the far left loathes the ground she walks on. Which is a rousing endorsement, IMO.

I actually like her best for president in 2020 than Pence. She is spunky.

She would be the best female presidential candidate to date IMO.

I don't align with her on some issues, but I think she would be a good nominee and would do very well if she won the nomination.

Ambassador Haley to UN General Assembly: Get Bent, new Sheriff in town
She is working for Trump. As president, she'd be working for donors and lobbyists. I wouldn't get too excited. When left to her own devices, she historically has gone full establishment.

Nah, not really. She fought the establishment Republicans in the State House pretty damn hard as Governor. She didn't have the dramatic flair that her predecessor Mark Sanford had, like walking into the State House toting piglets and decrying pork barrel politics, but she was far more effective and would eviscerate them in public when needed. She also got more reform accomplished than Sanford because she knew when to pick her battles.

I don't think she is a 10, but she's not awful looking like Hillary or Moochelle either. There's just something about seeing a good looking woman with a gun that gets me every time.

I could easily see her being the front runner if DJT decides not to....

from what I've seen how she conducts business, she's as solid as a rock....

Thanks for the perspective. That wasn't the sense I got from South Carolinians in the primaries when she was pushing Rubio and then went NeverTrump up until he won.

Honestly the Rubio push was a break from the establishment here. The establishment was big on Jeb. Gov. Haley backed Rubio and Lt Gov McMaster backed Trump.

The thinking here is Haley's appointment to the UN was actually a reward to McMaster for his loyalty. Haley was going to be term-limited in 2018 anyway so she was going to be looking for her next job. Now McMaster gets to run for Governor as an incumbent and still gets the chance at two terms if elected.

Haley saw which way the winds were blowing and went for Rubio late. She was waffling between Jeb and Rubio.

I was a tad lukewarm on her as Gov (from a distance) and then found the UN appt a bit of s head scratcher, what FP experience did she really have?

I have been nothing less than very impressed by her work so far and pleasantly surprised. Mostly spot on with her/their approach to that do nothing body of conniving lay-abouts.

She’s calling them out on a regular basis for their incompetence, inaction and ineffectiveness. Only thing they even remotely excel at is deploying bands of uniformed rapists and the daily condemnation of “The Joos”.

Give em hell Haley! 2024.
