Tennessee football news
https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/co...820635001/

Injuries and attrition have taken a toll on Tennessee's offensive line. The Vols had just seven scholarship linemen available for Saturday's game, with Marcus Tatum added to the injury heap.

Just six scholarship linemen participated during the open portion of Tuesday's practice -- Trey Smith, Jashon Robertson, Thomas, Ryan Johnson, Devante Brooks and Riley Locklear.

Jones has ruled Kendrick and Tatum out for Saturday and said left tackle Drew Richmond is questionable. Kendrick and Richmond are the team's starting tackles, with Tatum as the top backup.

yep. like i said after the Kentucky game....Hopson blew it by starting Keon over Griggs. We would have won that game. He blew it again by starting him again in the UAB game over Griggs. Sure, they blew UNT as a whole, but would have been nice being 7-1 going up against a wounded TN team. oh well...you get what you deserve.

I don't like being 8 games into the season and the HC talking about good competition at QB position. Normally, there is a frontrunner who goes until the backup passes him up and takes it away. There isn't this back and forth throughout the season. Bad coaching.

The reason there's a QB competition is because neither are that good.

RE: Tennessee football news
Again, why we are having trouble recruiting decent QB's is perplexing to me....Davis was a walk on from baseball, Mullens was a thrower but not particularly suited for the offense we run (he was a pocket passer), Griggs is OK but fragile, and Keon should be a perfect fit for our system (but he has not been the runner we thought or particularly elusive.)

Conversely, Tennessee's budget approaches $100 million, while we's po'....and the idea we might be able to compete with them Saturday is mind boggling.04-cheers

Winner Winner. No one has separated themselves after spring camp, fall camp and 8 games?

This is unfortunately the honest truth neither QB has done much to separate themselves although i feel Griggs is better right now. The question to me is are we going to let Rodriguez compete for the starting job next year and if so does hop actually start him over Griggs and Howard if he looks better?

Actually there was NOT a qb competition. Griggs won the starting job until he got hurt. Getting injured IS NOT how you lose the starting job unless you are injured for the season. The moment Griggs became healthy, he should have been starting again. I have ZERO respect for our coaches. i was behind them 100% until I realized Griggs was healthy vs UAB but didn't play until the end. Makes ZERO sense. I went from 100% to 0% in support of these coaches after that. I hope the entire staff is fired.

Griggs is definitely the better QB of the 2, but we would have lost that UAB game even if he started. They had our number and completely shutdown ITO. We would have won the Kentucky game had he started.

Griggs is still not completely healthy. He had a foot injury on top of the hand injury. I honestly didn't think Keon played Saturday. I thought Dawson showed zero imagination. I've thought Dawson has done a decent job here for the most part. But he stunk up the UAB game.

we cant say for a fact we would have beaten UAB with Griggs, but we also cant say we would have still lost with Griggs starting. IMO, we would have won....certainly with a healthy Griggs. heck, we almost won anyway. we were ahead most of the game. IDK for sure how hurt or healthy Griggs is. hopefully he is close to full strength and good enough to go this weekend.

I am sure they will put him in around the 3rd quarter and expect him to win the game for us.
