Not all the salaries in the table lineup with the ones in the link.

https://projects.newsday.com/college-foo...an-kugler/

I know in our case Kugler’s guaranteed salary was the $290,000 from your link. But his actual salary after incentives and bonuses totaled out to the $515,000 from WKUYG’s link.

UTSA has come a long way from the ~$400K they paid Larry Coker. The raise given to Wilson was to potentially prevent poaching from P5s.

In many cases for state universities, the base pay is small, for UTEP $289,000 but adding in the coaches shows and camps, Kugler made over $500k each year, without the bonuses. That's true of most schools. I noticed that Sonny Dykes was making a base pay of less than $300k at Cal but actually was paid in the millions.

That name would be my dream hire. It’s too bad so many on our board resist the idea of UTEP hiring and paying for a good coach.

I agree. Hopefully the UTEP admin folks will wake up and make a good investment this time. Stull really screwed UTEP with the Kugler hire. Not only no experience at any level as the head man but not even as a coordinator on either side of the ball.

Amen to all that and thanks. UTEP athletics needs something positive to happen this time around.

RE: How Much Does Your University Pay Coaches?
North Texas is making a big push regarding athletics. Our current president and AD finally realize the importance of it. In a lot of cases (but not all), you get what you pay for.

In a weird way, the loss we had to FAU does have its positives, in that it stopped all the Seth Littrell to a P5 school talk.

This is one area where all CUSA members should be on the same side. In some ways, the strength of the whole (conference) is more important that the individual titles. I am glad that UNT is now doing their share to strengthen the conference. Our mens basketball team went in the tank as soon as we joined CUSA (Benforded). However, I fully expect our BB program to turn things around pretty quickly under mcCasland (not necessarily this year as he has not had a real chance to recruit).

The (relatively) new CUSA has been dissed quite a bit. But, the conference has done well in the bowls and this year has maybe more potential qualifiers than any other G5.

Our OOC performance has to improve. If that doesn't happen, then the conference is balanced because we all equally suck.

RE: How Much Does Your University Pay Coaches?
Coach Clark at UAB just got a bump in his salary and a contract extension to 2022. Not sure about the amount. I was just about to post a thread to ask who's the highest paid HFBC in Conference USA when I ran across this thread.

Clark is currently at $605k, but his new contract will bump him to $900k next year. Ehsan makes $450k.

RE: How Much Does Your University Pay Coaches?
I think our AD Wren Baker said it the best when he hired McCasland. Not having a winning program is the greatest cost to a school.
