Sexual Assault Scandals to hit Academia next?
The Atlantic believes so...

https://www.theatlantic.com/education/ar...ia/544388/

Quote:His career was too important. Despite allegations of sexual harassment that were substantiated by an internal investigation, the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law allowed Dean Sujit Choudhry to stay on the job. In 2015, Tyann Sorrell, Choudhry’s assistant, described how the dean had pursued her for kisses and long hugs over a period of months. Choudhry initially held onto his professorship and benefits. Even after an uproar, the university, which boasts a “zero tolerance” policy, kept him on payroll (he was pushed to resign as dean after Sorrell sued him for sexual harassment in 2016, but he remained on the law-school faculty). Choudhry was eventually put on a two-year sabbatical, still retaining travel funding and research grants (the settlement reached between Sorrell, Choudhry, and the school ensures that he will voluntarily resign in 2018).

The legal community was riveted. This sort of harassment in academia had little history of resulting in punishment. “If you think of maybe the last person on earth who would do this, you would think it would be the dean of one of the most prestigious law schools in the country,” John D. Winer, Sorrell’s lawyer, told The New York Times last year. Unfortunately, Winer is off the mark. The open secret in academia is how many women face sexual harassment on a regular basis. A 2015 survey conducted by the Association of American Universities at 27 elite private and public research universities found that roughly one in 10 female graduate students states that she has been sexually harassed by a faculty member at her university. Although some critics questioned the study’s methodology, suggesting it may have resulted in an overestimation, the results demonstrate that academia is by no means immune to the kind of harassment people are speaking out about in entertainment and media.

Well there's Weinstein, Hollywood's open secret, and Halperin, the media's open secret (https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2...1285001/). Why not the 3rd triad of liberalism?

Just curious... all these left-leaning people used to believe in moral relativsm. Is that still the case?

If so, what we're witnessing is the expected outcome.

Sexual Assault won't be a serious crime until we all agree the President of the United States shouldn't get away with it. So far, we continue to allow serial and admitted sexual offender Donny Trump be president.

He is a serial mysoginist and cheater on his wives, but calling that assault is ignorance and an offense to anyone who has actually been assaulted.

Then again maybe you are confusing him with Bill Clinton who paid off a woman for raping her, used his power to do an intern and has been accused of multiple other cases of actual assault and sexual harassment in the workplace.

Maybe you should see the post on the hypocrisies of liberalism. It just makes liberals look stupid.

Donald J. Trump have been accused of having sex with a 13 year old girl. The woman filed a charge against him for money. She also accused Bill Clinton as well.

Professors have an immense amount of power over all their students lives and futures and thus should be held to a higher standard

What a warped, petty and astonishingly stupid way to respond to the topic at hand.

So a Grad student alleges harassment some years ago, and it’s cause “Trump”.

Whole new level of TDS here, folks.

And nothing about this question would surprise me in the least. Not even a smidgen...

They still do. Violence is OK when a "literal fascist" is elected. Gender is a social construct, except when feminist causes need to be advanced. Abortion is OK as long a dthere's a handout for babies brought to term. Sexual impropriety is OK as long as you belong to the correct political party.

The problem is that by having few if any absolutes, they are just chasing their own tails. What we're seeing now are the bite marks.

Yeah, true. I really like how they fill up their movies and TV shows with sex and violence but in the "real world" they abhor it.
