I also want to see a power type back soften the middle early and keep the D honest. Was thinking Harbison fit the mold. Just haven't seen him enough yet to determine his style. Anyone else have thoughts?

No great insight on that but I too wondered if Harbison would fit the bill here

RE: UPDATE: Huff is out Thursday
Can you imagine what would have happened to Huff if he did the endzone celebration like DJ Brown did vs EMU. Huff would be kicked off the team.

Toledo is by far the most important game of this year.
If we lose Toledo wins the MAC West and Championship game.
If we win, we could lose to CMU and still goto Detroit.

I understand Huff being injured, but why is he not allowed to travel? Sounds weird...

You only take so many guys on road trips and if he has zero chance of playing then it's better for him to rest back on campus

Isn’t he a leader on the Team? Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but a Senior who’s played a key part in this season should be able to travel..... Even if it’s for team morale and to hype the running backs in his place up.

I don't know if he's much of a team leader or "rah rah" guy and they obviously decided it's better for him to recover back in DeKalb. I wouldn't read into it at all. It wouldn't make a difference either way.

Jordan Huff is not on Carey's "leadership team" chosen by the players. I asked him at the season ticket holder breakfast if Heisman finalist Jordan would be helping Jordan be a Heisman candidate and Rod said "we have a lot of talented running backs on this team - Jones, Mister, ....." Huff had 4 carries against BC and played on all special teams. I was wondering if there are academic issues but who knows. Cam Stingley should have had a much better career without Rod messing with him and had we fed him the ball, we might have beaten BGSU. They could not tackle big backs - look at what Pitt did the following game.

From most reports, and god knows how accurate those are, he's a "me first" player and that's been an issue for years. Practice habits, attitude in meetings, etc etc. Who knows. It doesn't matter as long as NIU wins.

RE: UPDATE: Huff is out Thursday
Huff's biggest problem is that he doesn't go down on first contact, and in Carey's world that extra effort increases chances of a turnover. That's my theory.

When healthy this year he has been the featured back so perhaps he has matured. I do hope that he gets healthy and has an opportunity to play some more in his senior season. He makes this year's team better when he is full speed.
