You could argue that a few of our members don't really play basketball...

Yeah, and some C-USA folks may disagree with me, but I would be p*ssed if a non-football playing member were winning the conference year-in and year-out.

You better not name who I think you’re talking about. If you do and they win some games in a couple years you’ll be charged with message board hate crimes!!!

I think the non-football teams' performance is a bit overstated. Little Rock has been in the Sun Belt since the early 90s and they've only won the Sun Belt's NCAA bid twice. UT Arlington hasn't even been in the Sun Belt final. There's no reason that having a football program should make it difficult-to-impossible to compete with non-football schools in basketball. That's a crutch. Hire the right coach, recruit the right players and you're good.

Yeah but CUSA used to have DePaul, Marquette, St. Louis, and Charlotte as basketball only schools. Tell me you wouldn't love if they were still here playing basketball and Charlotte was back to that form.

I personally would not, if those teams won every year, leaving football members to the NIT.

Did Marshall participate in the Big Dance during that time period ?

We weren't here when they were, but lots of teams got into the dance besides them during that time. They strengthened the conference enough to get 3-4 or more teams in, of course that included Cincy, Louisville, and Memphis as well. Stronger basketball only schools can lead to more bids and more money for everyone. I would rather have the conference get multiple bids every year because of non-football inclusion than have a better chance of getting the ONLY bid as it is now. As it stands unless you win the tournament you're going NIT or worse, so what's the difference?

Why? If it’s a strong program, the conference is better off with them with than without them

UAB had some at large bids during that time. Whatever it takes to raise the RPI of this league we need to do it.

I'm pretty glad we have UTA. They scored the biggest win in the conference against St. Mary's College last season, beat Texas, plus made it to the QF of the NIT. One of Benson's better adds.

UTA has had constant success since they decided to build their new arena. It doesnt hurt that they have oil wells on campus were they can draw their money from.

It wouldn't bother me. It's a little different to not play football and being an affiliate member like New Mexico, South Carolina and Kentucky are with Soccer. I'm glad they are members because they have quality programs but will root for full time members first.
