If I'm not mistaken, there's the little warning when you pick a seat in 109 but nothing before that. Maybe even one standing section at each price level would be nice(or at least adding a public one since 109 is priority, maybe chairback and club wouldn't have enough of a demand for it) and then when you first go to buy tickets, have a message about 109 being the section to stand all game.

Other than that, gotta agree with the people saying standing all game is a dbag move if you're not specifically in a standing section or something but that there's nothing wrong with jumping up in excitement for a big play or standing for a big third down or something. If you literally can't get up too when someone in front of you stands for those moments, there is handicap seating or you could go with front row if you'd prefer. A guy at basketball games wanted to fight my brother over us standing at times when the whole convo was standing 01-wingedeagle

I stand the whole game, but I have the back row so it doesn’t block anyone.
I’m also in 109
And your point is good except 109 is already a sold out section.
And on a reseating year you don’t get in without at least a $500-$700 donation
1-2 others (perhaps a 200 and a 400 level for diff giving levels) would make sense.

Now it’s going to take the fans to make it happen
Meaning - when we made 109 a standing section a bunch of us talked to the ticket office and then rallied enough folks with tha priority points to book the section 1 seat at a time.
The next season it was tagged as a standing section

Nothing says 20-30 of you couldn’t do the same in another section.
The best part about 109 is that there are 208 seats and 80% of us have gotten to know one another over the years

Most fans are not going to stand the whole game. For me personally, I can stand the whole game, but when I am at the games, I choose not to in order to respect the others (when I was in section 405). In 405 I would only stand when a big play took place and then sat down. It didn't detract from the game at all. Now that we are in the collar and the back row, it makes it easy to stand the whole game if wanting.

If you think this through i don't know how you can disagree with this post. Where I sit the protocol seems to be stand on third downs but stay seated for the rest. It works. With that being said, because enough people want to stand through the entire game JMU should probably designate more and more areas as standing seats. JMU is known as a friendly place and there is no reason that this issue should change that. Obviously (to me) all bets are off in Frisco.04-cheers

The only time I sat down at that game was so I could take off a layer of socks!

I think an 'American Outlaws' like section at JMU would be amazeballs!

The American Outlaws are all singing, all standing, all passion, all the time.

The sections are behind on of the goal lines and depending on the venue are sold with assigned seats or either general admission to that section(s).

I'd recommend putting them next to the band if something like that were to materialize, but I really have no data on how big of a demand there would be for such a thing.

This would be one of the best ideas done by JMU. I would seriously recommend this to the ticket office/athletics. I would certainly be willing to help out there as well on this

I played football, have coached HS football for 17 years, and know the intricate schemes and details of the game as well as anyone. If the bulk of my section is standing, I'm happy to stand. If the bulk of my section is sitting, I'm happy to sit...not sure how either position ruins the game for anyone. HOWEVER, if you are one of the only people standing in a section, and you are blocking the view of someone a) not in good shape, b) elderly, or c) a kid, then you're just being a dick.

+1000 This to me sounds very reasonable and respectful for all involved. Designating a standing room only location is fine too if that is what those fans choose to do. But to expect every fan to stand throughout the entire game, is, from my perspective, unreasonable and disrespectful to those who can't or choose not to.

I'm in the collar, above you guys. I have noticed a lot more of you sitting since it all started with the new stadium. Each year more and more of you will be sitting more and more. When you are all old and gray haired like Don Parr!

NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND ..... I would bet that we have sat maybe a total of 20 plays all year long. And who are you calling old and gray Mr. Chrome Dome? :)

And my position is and always will be ... you do what the others around you are doing. If you sit in a section where everyone stands, you stand. If you are the only one standing in a section, sit the hell down. We currently have many more sections of sitters than standers. So, people (like BSKB24) who want to sit, have a place to sit. But, I yearn for the day when there are many more Section 109s in BFS. I love watching the game on my feet and hate sitting down. But i understand others don't feel the same way. That is what is great about America - we can disagree and still get along. Oh wait ... scrap that last line, we can't do that anymore. 04-cheers

Sitting or standing - what's more important is that 109 is always full.
On the season - across 5 games, there have only been 9 seats unused cumulatively across the games.
Thats only 1.8 seats unused (not sold, but actual butts in seats) across 208 seats per game.
Said differently - there have been 1040 tickets sold for 109 this season an 1031 had butts in seats.
One of the many reasons I like sitting or standing there every saturday - right next to Purple Wave's old self :)

That’s nuts, and so awesome. Two of those nine have been from us, sorry lol. Buddy had one day that he kinda got screwed at work and another day where his kid got sick.

To add a little to my last post, I know how it came about and I love that JMU embraced it to the point that they added that message when you go to buy in 109... More schools and maybe even some NBA/NFL teams should do the same. I just think it’d be even better for JMU to take the next step in maybe having a standing public section along with the standing priority section, and with a little more to make it known that those sections are an option.

Part of the 109 numbers are because people want those tickets, and I'm an example of that. A buddy of mine offered us his tickets in 109, so I didn't use my tickets in 212.
