Interview with John Boehner
https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/...ure-215741
Interesting long interview with/article about John Boehner. Talks a lot of the history of things going on in the House over his 25 years there.
Kind of confirms my belief the guy was a jerk who had no business as Speaker. He makes DJT look tactful. But it is a sympathetic article. Talks about he made a deal with Obama on the budget but Obama backed out and he realized Obama couldn't be trusted. Also talks about how he couldn't trust the Freedom Caucus.
One interesting bit from near the end:
Boehner believes Americans are ill-informed because of their retreat into media echo chambers, one of two incurable causes of the country’s polarization. Another is inextricably related: the unwillingness of lawmakers to collaborate across the aisle, for fear of recriminations from the base. Boehner says the fact he and Obama golfed together only once—and agreed that it was usually better for him to sneak into the White House—speaks to how the two parties punish compromise. He doesn’t foresee this toxic political climate improving, ticking off potential fixes—term limits, redistricting reform—that he says won’t make a bit of difference. “It’s going to take an intervening event for Americans to realize that first, we are Americans,” he says. An intervening event? “Something cataclysmic,” he responds, gazing upward.

Hannity's already ripping into Boehner, about some conversation Boehner said happened that Hannity has NO clue what he's referring to.
I figure Levin and Limbaugh might be preparing to unload all barrels on Boehner as well.
As for the toxic environment ... Basically, he's saying that the American voters are apparently the toxic ones right? GOOD RIDDANCE to bad orange rubbish.

Boehner is right about the last tidbits. People only want to hear what they want to hear. And the Republicans are the main ones who will cut down anyone who is willing to work with the other side. Very ruthless mindset on that side.

There's some ripping of Hannity in the article.
