Washington Free Beacon hired Fusion GPS
http://wjla.com/news/nation-world/washin...p-research
They acknowledge being a Republican leaning source paying Fusion GPS for opposition research. They are described as a "neo-conservative" group.
In a note to its readers, the Beacon's editor in chief Matthew Continetti and chairman Michael Goldfarb said that they contracted with Fusion GPS during the 2016 election cycle to look into provide research on "multiple candidates in the Republican presidential primary." That research did not include funding the Steele dossier, they said, the largely unverified 35-page report by former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele that purported to show collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.
"The Free Beacon had no knowledge of or connection to the Steele dossier, did not pay for the dossier, and never had contact with, knowledge of, or provided payment for any work performed by Christopher Steele," Continetti and Goldfarb wrote. "Nor did we have any knowledge of the relationship between Fusion GPS and the Democratic National Committee, Perkins Coie, and the Clinton campaign."
Earlier this week, numerous reports emerged that Clinton's campaign and the DNC funded the Steele dossier through Fusion GPS. The reports indicated that a Republican third-party contracted with Fusion GPS early in the campaign, until approximately April 2016.
These reports surfaced after House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) issued a subpoena for Fusion GPS' financial records.
Friday was the deadline for Fusion GPS to turn over its records to the Intelligence Committee.
The Washington Free Beacon said it approached members of the House Intelligence Committee on Friday to offer to answer questions about the ongoing investigation into the Steele dossier.
A source close to one of the official Russia investigations told Sinclair Broadcast Group earlier this week that according to investigators' timelines, the bulk of the research for the Steele dossier was done after June 2016.

Washington Free Beacon hired Fusion GPS
Yup.
One of never-trumper Bill Kristols outfits.
But, as pointed out, it was a rather generic broad dig into many of the candidates, vetting if you will, no big deal or problem with that IMO.
Its AFTER it left their hands and landed in the political campaigns lap, then weaponized by the FBI, members of zerO Admin and the collusion between the H> campaign, LSDNC and foreign adversary’s that’s the problem.
Monday may be more interesting than we think...

On one hand, they have no blood on their hands with regards to the fake dossier. On the other hand wtf is a media outlet doing paying for opposition research? Aside from Trump, who were they digging dirt on (Cruz and Carson???)?

I guess it depends when they started paying Fusion GPS. Many of them like iCarley dropped out pretty early. By April when they stopped paying, it was pretty much down to Trump and Cruz. Kasich hung around, but had 0 chance. Rubio was the last of the others, but dropped out in mid March, yet WFB kept paying them into April.

The only thing I want from Fusion is to see their bank records. That'll tell us who paid them and what's keeping them from subpoenaing them. Wait, I know, it'll bite the Demons in the behind and we can't have that.

I think Krystol was backing Jeb Bush. Look where Papa Bush, Barbara Bush, JR, Jeb, Laura Bush, the bush twins and all that supported? They voted for Hillary Clinton. Hillary is like a Democratic Neocon just like the Bush's. It would not surprise me the Krystol and The Washington Free Beacon with the bush's handed it off to the Hillary campaign to continue. Even one of the Koch brothers supported Hillary. Hillary was in favor of the same things the Bush's favored including the Keystone pipeline.
As for the Keystone Pipeline? It can not start because it is still hold up in the courts. The farmers and ranchers including others brought in a lawsuit to block the construction. Obama did not hold it up, it was hold up by the courts. His executive order still can not overturned a court order against the company behind the pipeline.

I get that Washington Free Beacon is controlled by people who are in alignment with William Kristol’s viewpoint, whether you want to call it neoconservative or something else. Still, though, that doesn’t explain how they came up with the $$$ to hire Fusion in the first place. Stuff like that is expensive and it would take some very deep pockets to keep the utilities turned on.
