Are there lingering bad memories of sharing a league with WSU? --- I confess the hatred is puzzling. From my view, it is exciting to see how the hoops side of the league is receiving a much needed shot in the arm, both in quality and media attention. ¡Gracias amigos, chaú!

I'm not old enough to remember the 80's years. They sucked in the 90's. We sucked in the mid to late 2000's. It's a rivalry that has been full of beat downs and tears for many years. We don't like eachother, and their current cockiness is kind of infuriating considering we've both had ups and downs over the years. We recognize that they're a quality team for the league. But they're not the juggernaut program that they all think they are. We beat them 2 years ago when they were ranked in the top 10, much like this season. They'll attribute it to a Van Vleet injury, but he ended up playing all 30 minutes. He just didn't shoot very well.

Its an old hatred, if you go back and look i argued strongly for them to be in (not that a message board has any power). They're a quality program, most of their posters are solid too. Some have delusions of grandeur and cant figure out why the world doesnt consider them louisville or uconn. Yet they cant put together a resume better than butler.

There are two things tulsa fans and students learn fast, we hate houston football and wsu. The first is a passion and the second is just ingrained in our DNA.

This most recent circle jerk just reminds us why and as you can see wsu posters are well on their way to helping the rest of the league to feel the sawaying.

Trust me, the Tulsa/WSU hate is a one-way street as far as WSU fans born in the last 3 decades are concerned.

No because no national power goes that long with out an appearence since the dance expanded to 64. Try and keep up with the discussion or sit there and be quiet.

Well I guess we do because many in the national media are calling us a national power - deal with it bro. We aren't making this up ourselves. Dozens of sports writers have used the term to describe us.

T

...03-cool

Lol in that espn article your players complained that you weren't considered a major team. They and marshall were the ones who touted your national power status, the author said you have a good team, not that you were a national power. Hell you're not even a national program.

You mean the one where the author said

Quote:Marshall's "play angry" mantra and approach have turned Wichita State basketball into a national power with a legitimate opportunity to win the American Athletic Conference in its inaugural season with the league.

I don't care whether YOU consider WSU a national power, but when you post stuff that is 100% incorrect (whether a particular person said something), it's kind of annoying.

Oh sorry i missed that in all the whining the Wichita State "tough" program was doing.

Well I guess that makes butler a blue blood or maybe the "play angry" shockers whined their way to the author throwing them a bone. Such a national power that they might win their conference. Yup sounds like a top level program.03-lmfao

Exactly what kind of "info" were you looking for in a thread about a USA Today Cover (other than the picture/link to the story)?

It's not like this is a "name your starting five's strengths/weaknesses" kind of thread...

I have been fooled by Shocker fans. They have the personality of ECU and UCF fans on steroids

Nailed it.

Nice to bring up the 1 win in your last 7 or 8 tried though. Be proud!

Better than your 1 win in 17 tries during the 90's.

Tulsa’s motto:

Nobody moves goal posts better than we do.

Honestly, it’s the most pathetic thing I’ve ever seen.

Wsu, just believe us!! Honest, we're a national power 03-lmfao

So you can bring up a streak and when we respond about a previous one we're moving goal posts. Oh wait your lil athletic department doesnt have football so you dont know what it means. Thats so cute you trying to use big phrases when talking with the adults.

You’re annoying like Evansville and ISUr fans are annoying. When Corey Henderson ended up at Tulsa, the sentiment was “good for him.” If we had a player go to Creighton or KU, that would not be the sentiment. There are still Shocker fans that have yet to accept Conner Frankamp.

RE: Wow! Shockers featured on the cover of USA Today's College Basketball pullout.
This thread certainly went from "Wow, The Shox got the AAC on the cover of USA Today's special basketball edition" to "The Shox are an insignificant blip that can never survive the rigors of a real conference" at about the speed of light.

Is this typical of how threads out here go, or is this special treatment for the new guy whose fans can be obnoxious?

If this is typical I'm afraid you're going to be stuck with our message board rejects who are doing most of the posting here now. Our posters who believe in respecting opponents will avoid this board the way things are going right now.

Oh, and about Tulsa. I remember exactly where I was when I found out that the series with Tulsa had started back up. I was excited. That seemed like the best H/H series we had scheduled in a very long time. Then we started playing the games. It was like playing a mid-tier Missouri Valley team.

Tulsa would probably have finished around .500 in the MVC on a good year.

Gotta love the hypocrisy here Aargh. You cry about posters who believe in respecting opponents in one paragraph and then smash a conference opponent in the next.

Nicely done, hypocrite.

I did not disrespect Tulsa. I stated nothing but facts. I'm confident Tulsa will be much better this year and in the future. We just caught them at a down time.

Besides, I never claimed to be one of the respectful posters.

Spoiler:

Tulsa fan posts 2 of their results against MVC opponents to prove they would’ve finished 2nd in the MVC, completely ignoring the small sample size and the fact that every computer ranking would’ve put them around the middle.
