Question World Series thread
Random news/musings.

Dodgers bring Seager back for the WS. Granderson out.

LA is miserably hot.

For those in Houston - anyone going to the games here? and if not, where do you watch it typically? I watched a few games in the ALCS at Axelrad - they have the game on the big projector outside.

GO STROS!

Don't worry about the heat. It'll be about 104 at game time but it's dry, so it'll only feel like 102.

Keuchel - Verlander and then who starts game 3? Been talking about this at the office. I think you have to go with McCullers because he has more upside. And whoever starts game 3 probably gets the nod in game 7.

Astros could be in trouble... They don't handle the heat at Globe Life Park that great, so Dodgers could "Ranger them"... hehehe

This is a long running issue I have with the Astros and the Texans. You go to Lambeau field or Gillette stadium in the winter, its freezing f***ing cold. You go to Denver and you have to deal with the elevation. Fenway park - enjoy handling a ball of ice with bare hands.

To me, visiting teams that come here should be treated with the humidity. I think it would be an advantage against team that aren't used to it/conditioned for it. By playing with the roof shut almost always, we throw away any benefit we might gain from the elements.

That's my feeling at least. Curious if anyone else feels the same/disagrees.

At the end of the day, it's all about the paying customer. Due to the nature of the sport, I don't think it is a big enough advantage to risk $$$.

The Rangers will be adding a retractable roof when they build their new ballpark as well.

Doesn't seem to help the Owls much.

The UCLA game at HRS was miserable (6:00 kickoff in August, IIRC).

And didn't the Texans wear home whites and leave the roof open against the Steelers a few years ago? Didn't work.

You have to already be a good team for an advantage like this to matter. I mean, Cleveland could play in Siberia and would still manage to lose. Same for Rice.

Not sure why the color of unis would matter though.

They thought making the Steelers wear black would compound the heat.

Beating Kershaw in LA was going to be tough. Astros have much better chance of winning game 2 tomorrow.

Tomorrow is probably the poorest matchup for the Dodgers in the first four games.

Seeing Keuchel's first pitch nearly leave the stadium was an incredible moment. Great game.

This is pretty funny:

GO STROS!

Yes, I'm going to the games here at Minute Maid. Good ol' Section 319!

I'm also going to Minute Maid to watch at least some of the games from LA. The Astros are hosting watch parties at the ballpark. I went to one of these for the ALCS and it was quite fun. Admission is free, but you have to print out an admission voucher according to the instructions here:
http://m.mlb.com/astros/tickets/postseason/festivities

I just printed out my voucher for tonight and it has the number 22160. I don't know if that means over 22,000 vouchers have been claimed, but it might. For Game 3 of the ALCS (the only away game that was in the evening), an usher told me that 8000 vouchers were claimed.

If anyone else plans to go to MMP tonight, let me know and let's try to meet up. I'm almost certain the roof will be open, which is a treat.
