The TV announcer said Roberts didn't want any Astros to see his starting pitcher for a 3rd time.

Classic over managing stupidity. That will probably cost them the series.

And I thought pitching to Puig with no one on base and a two run lead was a mistake on Hinch's part. He would have setup a double play by int walk.

Still trying to reflect on a crazy, amazing Game 2. One takeaway for me is Houston needs to platoon Reddick/Maybin a bit. With all of LA's left handed starters, I think starting Maybin over Reddick is a good move say in Game 4 against Wood (if nothing else, he deserves the start since he won America a free Taco Bell taco).

Another thought is with all the sexual harassment charges in Hollywood these days, I feel Puig's bat should come forward and not be afraid to tell America what he has been doing behind the scenes.

.... ummmm... intentional walk brings the tying run to the plate... A solo shot by Puig and you still have the lead...

But that is a fantastic point... Really... could not agree more

Sorry, but you just cannot intentionally walk ANY batter with a 2 run lead. I don't care if its Babe Ruth.

Never. Ever.

Every guy in the Dodgers lineup can leave the park at any given time. You can't afford to give them an opportunity to tie it with one swing.

I'm glad the Astros didn't intentionally walk Puig in the bottom of the 11th.

Second prize: two free tacos from Taco Bell.

I'll be here all week, folks...

RE: World Series thread
Someone was asking about watch parties for the World Series games.
Tomorrow (Friday) there is one at the Navigation Esplanade, near Ninfa's and El Tiempo. I guess they are blocking off the street. Here's the announcement that I saw:

I am a big supporter of outdoor public watch parties like this (I really enjoyed the Discovery Green watch parties for the World Cup) -- but I will be in the ballpark this weekend.

Dave Roberts is probably sweating bullets right now. Houston beats Boston and the Red Sox part ways with their manager. Then Houston beats the Yankees and today they announce Joe Girardi isn't returning.

I don't think Roberts is in any danger of going anywhere. Except he might get some play for the Yankees job, but I'm not sure the Yanks can pay more than the Dodgers for him.

Roberts also grew up in San Diego and played college ball at UCLA, so think it's safe to say he likes where he's at, versus the Yankees job or any other job.

The Yankee Girardi firing is a real head-scratcher, as this was touted to be a rebuilding year with such a young roster. Girardi did a superb job handling and integrating in all the youngsters, and the future is as bright as can be.

JJ Watt throws out the first pitch for Game 3 of the World Series. He needs to stick to football (although it can't be easy to throw a pitch on one leg).

Astros bats still look hot from their late game 2 performance. 1-0 Astros after a Gurriel homer.

Batting practice off Darvish. 4-0 and it could be much worse. Just about every Astros pegged the snot out of the ball. 2nd inning pitching change for LA.
