Eaglebeaver has been on a passive aggressive bender since the win against Tech last Saturday.
Uh...we played Memphis EVERY year for 50 years (axe-ually twice one year!), ECU and Tulane for over 30 years, so their records, as in any rivalry, never was the point.
I'd say some of youse guys have an inferiority complex (), because saying You-aye-Bay and Tech aren't our rivals doesn't mean you are chopped liver or unworthy---it just means "you ain't our rivals".
....and the win last Satdee would raise anyone's spirits, whether it was against The Sisters o' the Poor, La Tech or Notre Damn...
I know this is a little of topic but Do you attend USM games like Troy in 2016 or Illinois back in baby bull days? What is you level of fan support? The reason for asking is you sound like some of the USM fans that I know who are never going to sit in the pouring rain or if its to hot to watch the Eagles or if they are playing Kentucky or Illinois but boy do we sure miss the good ole days when we played Memphis or Tulane. UAB is a rival game for any USM fan that is worth their salt. La Tech is a rival game as well. USM is no better than any of our current conference mates. We are where we deserve to be. Just like coach Hop says "you get what you deserve".
Never been to a game in my life...
Axe-ually my friend, I've sat in Hurricane's, downpours, 120 degree Death Valley-like weather and everything in between.
My Dad had season tickets when no one had them beginning in the 50's....and took me to my first game when I was five...and then I preceded to make EVERY HOME GAME FOR THE NEXT FORTY SEVEN (47) YEARS (Needless to say that included season tickets and Eagle Club)..
So way to go "Nostradamus"...and I guarantee I've got plenty of salt, capiche?
I busted out a ciggy butt in the 'cane game against tech.....there couldn't have been 400 folks in the stands by the end of that game.....how Hrapmann made that FG is flat out amazing...then tech scores and fails to convert the 2pt conversion for the win....that game is easily in my my top ten at the rock...
once you're soaked, you can smoke.....what a crazy game that was.....

You're mixing up the LT and UCF games that year. After the field goal was made there was a kick off that LT returned to about the midfield making it interesting but time expired, ballgame. The UCF game was the game where they scored as time expired, went for the 2 for the win, but Jacorius Cotton deflected the pass to seal the win.

RE: Rivalry Week: UAB-USM
My personal feelings are that La Tech is the closest "rival" to us.
If Marshall were closer in distance that could be a natural rivalry.
I considered Louisville, Houston and ECU rivals and wished we still played them. UL and Houston games had major conference implications for the most part, and they were always fun games. ECU's story is probably the most similar to USM's, so that's why I've always seen that as a "rivalry".
In the future, if UTSA stays competivie, I can see that becoming a really fun series.
I think UAB could be a fun "rival" as well, but outside of 2011 the games haven't had much meaning to them. That can/will change as long as the Blazers have Clark as the HC, but after he moves on if UAB goes back to how they were before him, it won't be a game USM fans view as a "rival".

Southern Miss can consider themselves our rival or not, as long as they keep paying for the cheap shots in Q4 of 70-14 blowout by losing 85% of the time. Whatever helps your medicine go down.
