New Hampshire @ JMU Thread
Massey - JMU 31 point favorites
Sagarin - JMU 28 point favorites

Passing Offense:
UNH - 14th, 283.7 ypg
JMU - 39th, 231.1 ypg

Passing Defense:
JMU - 2nd, 127.6 ypg
UNH - 81st, 237.4 ypg

Rushing Offense:
JMU - 10th, 239.1 ypg
UNH - 69th, 138.9 ypg

Rushing Defense:
JMU - 18th, 105 ypg
UNH - 45th, 134.7 ypg

Scoring Offense:
JMU - 5th, 40.7 ppg
UNH - 37th, 29.9 ppg

Scoring Defense:
JMU - 2nd, 11.4 ppg
UNH - 48th, 24.6 ppg

Total Offense:
JMU - 10th, 470.3 ypg
UNH - 34th, 422.6 ypg

Total Defense:
JMU - 2nd, 232.6 ypg
UNH - 54th, 372.1 ypg

Turnover Margin:
JMU - 21 gained, 12 lost. +9 TO.
UNH - 13 gained, 10 lost. +3 TO.

My Take: Here comes the "more offense than defense" portion of our CAA schedule, which is likely to encompass every remaining regular season opponent. We significantly outmatch UNH in every statistical category except for the passing game, where they have a notable advantage of 52.6 more ypg passing. Simply put, shut down their passing game, force turnovers and it'll be a very long day for the wildcats.
With the way our defense is playing this season, we should be able to give UNH a sub-standard offensive performance this season while their defense doesn't appear to be stingy enough to stop most of our offensive weapons available to us. Upon reviewing the CAA stats further, it appears UNH may have the "toughest" remaining defense of our schedule, but that isn't saying much.
Fun fact: This is UNH's first regular season appearance in the newly expanded bridgeforth (six years later). They are the final CAA program to make a trip to Harrisonburg lately. You have to love how the CAA lets a program dodge playing on the road against the flagship for seven years.

Nobody has scored more than 14 pts on us... no shutouts... our standard deviation must be crazy low! (math minors unite)

And the starters on D have given up even less. There's some garbage scores as well as special teams scores factored into that defensive scoring average.

Will need to keep an eye on the weather this week...chance of the wet stuff Saturday.

Still 5 days away of course, but ~40% chance of showers throughout the late afternoon in God's Country.

True but they were here in Dec last year and we pretty much handed them their butts. What scares me about UNH is they know how to win, they have seen this team twice, and will be prepared to win. In New Hampshire last year we almost gave that game away in the 4th. This is the one game that scares me, stats aside.
HCMH will need to keep the Dukes focus sharp this week.
38 - 10 Dukes win this one

I really feel that this unh team isn’t as good as last year’s team. I’m not convinced they’ll make the playoffs.
They lost to a bad holy cross team, blown out in fact. They lost to stony brook by letting them rally in the second half and they were shut out in that half.
Their only noteworthy win of the season is a neutral site win over one of the worst fbs teams in the country, Georgia Southern. Everyone else has been cupcakes. They beat common opponent Maine by 1 point thanks to a missed PAT. Maine almost won that game and probably should have.
They are a one trick pony with only a passing game and no defense. defend their passing attack and unh won’t have much to fight with.

I've never understood the logic of "they have seen this team twice" as if that is some kind of advantage. If they've seen us twice, then we've seen them twice. And, we're gonna kick their assets...again.

We also saw them twice... last season. This season has involved significant personnel changes for both teams.

They also have the 3rd worst passing D in the CAA so far. Expect a similar game from Schor if he plays to his potential.

Never get too enamored with teams that light up the stat sheet but are low in the win column.

It will be interesting to see what our defense can do against an offense that has actually shown they can move the ball. This will be their first test since ECU.
