18 UCF 500
24 Memphis 111

29 San Diego State 7
32 Marshall 1
32 Toledo 1

Amway Coaches Poll

1 Alabama (64) 1600
2 Penn State 1520
3 Georgia 1463
4 TCU 1385
5 Wisconsin 1343

14 South Florida 730

32 Colorado State 4
34 Boise State 3
34 Marshall 3
34 Navy 3
38 Appalachian State 1
38 Troy 1

Another oddity is that SDST is receiving votes in the AP poll and Boise is receiving votes in the coaches poll. Both have two losses and one beat the other. Sure SDST beat Stanford but still did lose to Boise, so it makes no sense to me, no consistency.

The only thing that ever makes sense in polls is that P5 teams get a giant assumption of superiority, simply b/c they play in a league where TV pays more money.

Well they do get their choice of the best players because of all the money and being much easier to play for the National Championship. So what the AAC has done so far this season is pretty incredible. Imagine if we had more money and could keep our good coaches.

The AAC is changing many people's view of the strength of this league hence multiple rank programs and why I believe Mike Aresco will do well with ESPN.

Yeah, I would feel a lot better if we could get up to maybe $8M a year.

Every college sports show now touting that awesome ND football team. Heard one of the "experts" on ESPN radio say if ND wins out "there is no way to keep them out of the playoffs, even if UGA plays AL tough in the SEC championship and finishes 12-1" like ND. I'm thinking how can that be, given UGA beat ND at their place. What could be more defining than head-to-head competition? LSU gets thumped by Troy, hammered by Miss St, beats a very mediocre OM & they jump back in the polls, example after example???

Well from ESPN POV, they last thing they want is two teams from the South in the CFP. While TCU certainly will have a case, they lack the desired brand recognition, so they need a large brand to offset that if the Frogs win out. The WWL could sell some adds with with a four of:
1. Bama
2. PSU
3. ND
4. TCU

Well, once could argue that a head to head loss in September shouldn't count for all that much 3 months later, when teams could have changed significantly. In the polls, later losses do usually count for more than earlier ones.

But heck, look at LSU, who you complained about: They beat Auburn just last week, have the same record, but are 4 spots behind them in both polls.

Lots of complaints out there. 07-coffee3

Hmm there is also a pesky loss to Troy that Auburn doesn’t have

The other poster asked "what could be more defining than H2H competition"?
