UR game bus trip from Richmond
The Richmond Alumni Chapter has put together a great deal for the game on 11/11 where we host Richmond. For $50 you get a game ticket and transportation to and from the game with 50 other Dukes fans. There are ten spots left to fill the bus before the deadline on this Friday 10/28. The bus will be meet at an office park where you can leave your car in the West End at 9 am on 11/11 so it will be in the Burg by 11 am which gives you over 4 hours to tailgate prior to the 3:30 kickoff. With the game being sold out the ticket prices wil Be much higher on Stub Hub which highlights how great of a deal this is. For those RVA Dukes without tickets don’t miss out on this great chance to cheer on our championship squad vs our bitter rivals with your fellow Dukes!! Go to the webpage below to register:

This is a heck of a deal, I hope those RVA Dukes out there take advantage! How many spots are left?

Still ten spots left. Considering stub hub tickets are around $100 each this is a tremendous deal.

It would be great if this concept could be replicated for a) playoff games and b) other localities (Roanoke, NOVA, Tidewater, etc.).

This is the Richmond Alumni Chapter's initiative, not from JMU itself, and I think it is an awesome idea that they worked with the Alumni Association and Duke Club to get it to work. I hope that other groups can follow Richmond's group in making this a consistent thing. I batted around the idea a number of times when I was leading that group and we could not get it to work.

While it would be awesome for a playoff game, part of the issue is needing people to commit to taking the bus and paying for it. I think this has been advertised for a month or two and there are still spots left. While it may fill up faster for a playoff game, it's hard to schedule a bus when we don't actually know (for certain) when and where the games will be. Maybe if this is successful the bus company might pencil in the playoff dates?!

Kudos to the Richmond Alumni chapter for taking this on!

Appreciate the shoutout Trippster - tickets are general admission. We’re hoping these bus trips catch on locally in Richmond and other parts of the state. There has never been a better time to root hard for the Dukes so let’s keep spreading the word. Go Dukes !

That’s a heckuva deal, ticket and not having to drive?!? Wow.

Where does the bus dump you to “tailgate”? Just wander around with your stuff until you see a friendly face or two?

RE: UR game bus trip from Richmond
The bus drop off is at Godwin which is pretty convenient. From there everyone is on their own for the tailgating but with 26,000 Dukes there everyone is bound to know someone having a tailgate. We have sold 49 tickets so far so only 6 left- don’t miss out if you still need a ticket!

A bus trip has been mentioned for years. Kudos for making it happen. I had to drive solo yesterday. Wish there was a bus running about half way home last evening. I was a tired puppy.

One thing that would make this an even better option is offering a bus trip only rate if someone already has their own ticket. Something to consider.

^^^
Sounds like a reasonable option. Maybe 40 tickets with all remaining passengers needing to have purchased their own. Of course, those would pay less. The way it's set up, they're trying to get mainly the casual fan who rarely goes to a game.

Would suggest talking with the Hampton Roads alumni chapter and Alysia Davis at the Alumni Association for help with planning and marketing if you are ever interested in organizing something like this. It’s great to be able to share a few brews with fellow alumni on the bus trip to/from the game and nice to get back home in the same day for those not staying in the ‘Burg overnight.
