What horrible luck for Norwood. Strack just reporting he tore his other ACL and is out for the season. 3rd time. Really feel for him.

Good solid game for the Rockets. Only really negative was the contiuing addiction to silly penalties. Offense was overpowering, D was solid. O-line played really well which is impressive being down 3 starters.

Who in the world is doing color for RayCom? He has Mitch Guadagni. from Michigan, taking his team to the state finals in Columbus. He also had Seymour rushing for 177 yards at CMU.

And BTW, seem not to know about Chuck Ealey as UT's all-time QB

Damn and he had earned his playing time.

Not sure what Akron ended the game with but very late in the game they had 39 yards rushing. Defense, by George!

Terrible news- maybe time to think about hanging up the pads.

RE: Akron at Toledo game thread
Just back from the Glass Bowl---almost November and you couldn't ask for better weather any time. Nice crowd (except the students sections were way down), but certainly not one of the biggest of the year. Good to see Kareem Hunt back in the Glass Bowl.

The O-line and the Defense appear to be coming together nicely which gives this teams' upside a gigantic boost moving into November where many a Rocket MACC dream has been crushed. Hopefully they can continuing playing at this level without a let down because at this point a loss to NIU or WMU could still prove to be fatal to hopes for a MACC. Ignoring the rash of penalties that has infected the team this year (except Elon and CMU) this was probably their best game of the season in terms of overall team performance.

With November now upon us it is probably still premature to start thinking about a MACC but the odds of that just crept significantly higher IMO after today's performance (The D looked really good against CMU but it was hard to know whether the credit belonged to the D or the weather---no question today). However, I think that there is no possibility for an access bid bowl invitation this year even if they go 11-1 because of the Rockets opponents' mediocre performance this year and without a signature win it is very difficult if not impossible to be considered. 2015 with a signature win over Arkansas was their chance for the Access Bowl, not 2017 A win over Miami this year would have put them in the running but that was about their only chance this year for a signature win. The AAC currently has 3 teams in the Top 25 and while there will definitely be some attrition there as they play one another, there will also opportunities for them to pick up some more quality wins as well and I just don't think UT's can overcome its 2017 schedule------still if they pull off a MACC this year, their first since 2004, that will be more than enough for me.

Hester was on the sideline too. Too bad they didn't talk to him as well.

The play-by-play guy seemed at times to just be calling our random player names hoping he got a few of them right. Best call was when Phillips caught a pass, and he said, I have no idea who that was ... Caleb Martin maybe? Umm, no.

Also noticed #19 Sam Womack playing DB at the end. That is kinda surprising since he doesn't even appear on the on-line roster. Love how accurate the website is.

Storm Norton was down there, too.

I got to chat with Treyvon for a few seconds amidst kids getting autographs. I said, "You weren't thinking about hurting Kareem on Thursday night now were you?" He said, "No! No! Kareem is my man!" Peach of a guy. Kareem was signing auto's and getting pics with anyone who could get his attention, even along the sideline bleachers. He looked really happy to be back in the Glass Bowl on a wonderful afternoon.

Kareem was geting swarmed every time he went near any fans (he even had his own security guard following him, provided by UT). He was walking up to the press box and was stopped instantly at the first row for about 10 minutes taking pictures with fans and signing autographs.

Great to see so many former Rockets down on the sidelines. The already mentioned Hunt, Hester & Norton, I also spotted Paul Perschon & DeJuan Goulde.

I wish I had known DeJuan was down there. I would have yelled, "Gouuuuuuuuuld!" Been a long time since I recall all the Rocket fans called out a player's name in unison. Gould and Hamood (sp?) are the only ones I really remember. GooD times. Those guys could sure make plays.

As an NIU fan traveling to Bowling Green, I double-dipped and made my first trip to the Glass Bowl (only stayed for first half obviously).

As I walked in, a female worker handed me (and others) a ticket for free! I've traveled to two dozen stadiums and never had that happen. Place was mostly full, fun tailgating scene, and the crowd was lively. Interesting in-game promotions -- PA guy is great.

My ticket + parking costs today:
Bowling Green - $34
Toledo - $0

Best bargain deal I'll get my entire life.

Our PA guy also does the Detroit Lions, Toledo Mud Hens, Toledo Walleye, & Michigan...Toledo is lucky to have him.
