Yes, I think ours should be just a bit bigger. There's is not an erector set, the seats i sat in were plush and cushy, there were box suites, the scoreboard was cutting edge, and there was a nice selection of food and drinks. And it doesn't have a large footprint, tidy and efficient design.
I used to think bigger but with college football becoming more and more a made for tv event and even the top schools having issues with filling stadiums. I now think the way to go is a smaller more fan centric stadium.
It definitely is fan-centric. I'd guess there were maybe 23,000 people at the game yesterday (including a pretty impressive contingent of Bulls fans). In the Superdome, that would have been a deflator, because the vast bulk of that cavernous arena would have been empty. But in Yulman, that meant that about 3/4 of the stadium was full, and it created a great atmosphere.
Y all brought a nice amount of fans. All were very nice and represented the school nicely.

I make fun of the 'erector set' at UCF quite a bit, and it is too bad about the corrosion, but still, much of what motivates my comments is envy. Bottom line is, warts and all, you guys do have an OCS, and i wish we did.
It's got to just be a matter of time. I think going to a USF/UCF game in TT, would be a lot better than RayJay. No insult to RayJay, it just doesnt have a college feel. I wouldn't have felt that way before UCF's OCS. It makes a world of difference, especially for the students.

Yeah I agree. The money is in TV, the best thing the stadium does is provide atmosphere.
I think a good example we should be looking at (cfb in general) is European soccer. A lot of those stadiums are very small, 20-30k, but provide a terrific atmosphere so it comes across well on TV. Love the idea of the crowd being very close to the field
Yes, also our USA soccer league, the MLS. I recall that years ago, when the league started most of the teams played in NFL-type stadiums, and it was a morale deflator to have 15,000 fans in a 75,000 seat stadium. Now, most of them have built their own stadiums that hold 20,000 to 30,000 fans, and the fans are a LOT happier, and attendance increases when they make that move.
I have a friend who played soccer for USF back in the 1980s, and he now lives in Washington DC. Their MLS team has always played in RFK stadium, the old home of the Redskins, but they have a new dedicated 20,000 seat stadium opening up next season. He can't wait for it to open, has already bought season tickets, which he has never had before.

Scary at first, because they were so close when you first heard them it sounded like maybe someone was firing a machine gun. But it was an impressive display.
It’s a sad commentary on our times, but there should probably be some sort of PA announcement just before the fireworks start.
