DavidSt is not to far off on this one. Corey Feldman wrote in his book that Haim was raped on the set of Lucas (starring Sheen) by soneone "still making money in the industry". Also, a few years back Feldman remarked he did not like Sheen due to something that happened in the past. This has led to a lot of speculation over the years but nobody has confirmed anything.

I haven't posted about the Weinstein thing yet so this just applies to the general issue instead of Feldman in particular, but I think it's easy to judge the silent witnesses in these kinds of situations too quickly. The pressure to remain silent is sometimes too great for some people in any organization. Look at the issues the police have had. Or politicians. Or members of sports team during the PED years. Or how members of a traveling team/band/etc often so casually turn the other way (or celebrate) when their cohorts cheat on their spouses with groupies. Or the problems at college fraternities. Or Penn state. Or the Catholic church. And so on.

Sins of omission are often the most damaging to people, and the Weinstein situation is such a case. The need for success and the fear of rejection are very powerful forces that cut right down to human nature, and it makes being the first one to blow the whistle extremely difficult. Hollywood is a complex, f'd up community, and unfortunately it's too easy for someone to look the other way and hope that someone else speaks up when atrocities occur.

Oprah Winfred was sexualy abused as a child. She is a survivor of a sex crime. Her talk show covered these issues, and a good platform for victims to speak out.

Rosanne Barr was sexually abused as a child. She went into comedy to trash the people who assaulted her in her life including both her EXEs.

Drew Barrymore was abused by her father as a child. Her father is actor John Barrymore.

Fiona Apple was sexually abused by her father who is in the music industry. This happened when she was still underage.

Rosie O'Donnell was sexually abused as a child. No wonder she is a so hateful person that she attacks anybody.

Henry Rollins was sexually abused as a child. So was Axel Rose of Guns and Roses when both were kids.

The list is long and long. Many of the celebrities have been abused as a child in the entertainment industry or outside of the industry. Some of them happened to be sexually assaulted by their own parents who are also in the industry. Some of these people who have been accused of being a pervert or abuser are dead who can not defend themselves.

That's why I thought this Rosenberg article that I posted in the other thread was a good read. People were really self-righteous about Penn St., but I don't think those people were that abnormal. Their lack of action was horrible, but unfortunately, too human.
