The 2008 article linked below has a searchable data base that is still "live". It uses tax data for 2006 to show distributions for all conferences for that year. We can quibble about methodology but it's a nice little time capsule. Some highlights here, but play around with the data base because it breaks down revenues by sports, and also differences between Big East basketball and football schools.
Also, it shows the big disparity in some conferences, such as the Big 12 and the PAC, to keep their elite schools happy.
Finally, no wonder FSU has complained about ACC money in recent years: Ten years ago, the ACC made the most money, and FSU got more conference money than any school in the nation. Big changes since then:
Average per-school distributions (2006):
ACC: $10.8m (FSU $12.2m/Virginia Tech $8.4m)
Big East Football Schools: $6m (WVU $8.2m/Cincy $3.9m)
B1G: $10.7m
Big 12: $7.5m (Texas $9.6m/Kansas State $6.4m)
PAC: $7.1m (USC $10.1m/Arizona $5.7m)
SEC: $10.1m
By comparison, the MAC distributed an average of $215,000 per school that year!
