Also...

-Kamiah Smalls 1st team All-CAA preseason
-Kayla Cooper-Williams 2nd team All-CAA preseason
both are just sophomores (and CAA rookies of the year)!

Aneah Young (Jr.) is honorable mention All-CAA

If he gets the ball anywhere near the basket his first reaction is to always dunk and it is a show.

While this is fun to watch, it doesn’t win ball games.

For me the standard is 22+ wins. Bourne indicated that winning 21 games is not good enough by firing Brady and hiring Rowe.
I can’t accept a crappy record for the second year in a row. We need wins and lots of them.

Of course dunks don't count, thanks for that blinding glimpse of the obvious. Just trying to point out that we might have some entertaining moments to look forward to.

To your bizarre point about 22 wins; Brady was fired because with one exception his teams stunk in the post season and there were a lot of behind the scenes things going on that didn't help his cause. And Brady didn't just lose in the first round, he usually got bent over pretty hard. A lot of good coaches have been fired in the sports world because of post season failure.

For what its worth, at the point he was fired most reasonable people could have made compelling arguments in favor of keeping or firing Brady. I understand where people are coming from on both sides of this debate.

My only point being if you fire a coach the next coach must have better results than the previous coach. Otherwise, Bourne has a massive failure on his part leading into the critical funding and building of a new arena.

We have to expect better to justify the firing.

I agree with your premise regarding the new coach should have better results than the last one. I guess my point would simply be that the CAA tournament results are a huge piece of the algorithm and simply focusing on wins in a season is not looking at the total picture.

It is very clear that you truly believe that the administration made an incompetent decision firing Brady based on his accomplishments. As I have said previously, while I didn't disagree with this firing, I certainly could see the merits for keeping Brady. What I don't understand is that you seem to be saying that if the next coach does not do better than Brady he should be fired. Isn't this by your logic demanding that the administration continue to be incompetent?

Hiring the GOAT HCLR was a win-win. Bourne knew the new arena would be opening in 2020, giving Rowe his 3 years to succeed and try it his way to build the program. If it doesn't pan out by spring 2019 or so (next time around) JMU will have to hire with a splash if they want to put butts in seats at the new UBaT Center. No need to spend that kind of money now in the convocation center with MBB crowd turnout at an all-time low.

None of that will matter because obviously in the meantime HCLR will turn it around and Bourne will look like a genius. Dukes gonna finish #1 obv.

I don't even go to the men's games. I saw the end of one last year at a double header and it was pretty sad. And I thought Tennessee was awful, back in the day when the joke was "GUYS play basketball at Tennessee? Are you SURE?" (Of course the Lady Vols are now trying to recoup, but we'll see how they look on Nov. 15.)

Worst case scenario - is middle of the pack. Hoping for extremes - one way or the other.

The athleticism is better. Now we need to see if these guys can play together and Lou can coach. The rumor mill is suggesting he cannot but I have not drawn any conclusions yet. With the exception of two players, this year is 100% Lou Rowe's team.

..."rumor mill is suggesting he cannot"...Does it???

Maybe it does, but I think what most suggest, including Hart, there has yet to be any proof. We simply do not know.

I don't know whether it's true or not, but I was taught a good coach wins the close games, yet a coach who wins only when blowing the opponent up, is simply a recruiter. This is why so many of us who were fortunate to watch Lou Campanelli in action, refer to him as a legend, we had nothing but close games and won way more than we lost.

Dick Tarant and Lou Campanelli were two of the best college coaches I have seen through the years. They won games against coaches who had superior talent, which is the definition of good coaching in my book. Lefty and Mickey Matthews were two of the worst coaches in the last five minutes of a game.

I have heard a few comments repeated from some folks who are close to the program. Mind you these are just those folks opinions and not mine. I need to see Lou win a few games he should not win. Then I will say he is a good coach.
