Great for you. Betting you also just feel a lot better.

I lost mine several years ago and have done a pretty good job keeping most of it off, but have backslid a bit over this winter. Now have about 10-15 lbs I need to shed.

For me, it really is a function of what I put in my mouth. I have a sweet tooth that I sometimes have difficulty in curbing.......but it has to be not a diet, but a lifestyle change..

Yep... miles better. But yeah, society and advertising has pretty much convinced us that a diet is something you just "go on," when in fact EVERYONE is ALWAYS on a diet as a diet is just what you eat. So just make good choices and know what you're eating and how it will effect your body and weight. Education is a huge key. Also understanding that you need to have a 100% mindset to meet your goals.

I also am close to my goal of 200 also. Down to 207..from 248 this time last year. My gym opened up a functional fitness facility in January and Im going to 4 to 5 classes a week. Ive picked up muscle in places Ive never had it. Best part of this is that NO diet has been involved. Just exercise. I never thought Id like group exercise but Im having a blast with all the young people. Ive even surprised myself at 58 by being able to keep up with many of them. I did 556 ab mat sit ups in 30 mins last week. I could not have done a 100 a year ago.

Nice! Me too... I'm going to exercise classes three times a week. And I can now keep up with everyone in the class as well as being able to complete all the exercises properly.

I've also now been practicing for my first official 5K in May. I'm currently just over 33 minutes which is fairly decent for a 51 year old.

Good work.....Im not much of a runner but my wife has me signed up for a 5K also. It will be a very slow jogged attempt. My goal at the outset with the FF class was to be able to do 20 unbroken plank pushups. I could not do one at the outset. I did 7 last Friday..so..Im making progress...slowly.

What’s a plank push-up? Is that something done on an incline bench or something?

I assume he just means being on your toes and keeping you knees off the ground, and your body as parallel to the floor as possible. No butt or chest sagging.

Forgot to post that I ran my first official 5K on May 12th. I surprised myself finishing 47th out of 407 who did the whole 5K run/walk. Finished 2nd in my age group with a new personal best time of 28:02.9.

I also started another total body challenge in April and am down another 16 pounds so far to 165. I have two more weeks to go and hope to lose another 8 before then so I can reach my next goal of 125 down total.

We started doing an additional training after my normal M-W-F exercise class where we focus on one part of the body (legs, abs, or arms) and just basically do rep after rep to the point of muscle failure. It's a beast, but so rewarding when done!

I decided on April 7, 2017 to change my life to a one of health. Giving up soda, added sugar and fast foods, for a diet of fruits and vegetables along with healthy proteins.

I also started walking...and a lot of it. For several months, while the weather was nice, I was averaging close to 20,000 steps a day. Of course my employer helps in this as I can get around $100 every quarter for tracking my steps and a few other daily things.

Anyway, I'm happy to report that for the first time in over 30 years I am now below 200 pounds and am less than 20 away form my ultimate goal to lose 100 pounds total.

Well done. Nothing is more important than your health. Its irreplacable. 04-cheers

RWT, are you in a dieting plan? I dont know if you mentioned this or not. I did the Whole30 challenge (I dont know if I mentioned this either) at the beginning of February and ended up losing 35 lbs. I started at 197 and I am down to 162, which was my normal weight in the Marines. I have been able to keep it off for at least 3 months now.

Congratulations.

I talked about this briefly before. One of the main problems with weight loss is that society had told us a diet is something you start. But in reality, everyone is already on a diet as a diet is just what you eat.

But yes, you need to have a plan, which is what I changed. And that change has to be a permanent change or it's basically useless. you can't just do something for a few days or weeks.

I totally changed what I ate in April of 2017 and have not changed it since...and I don't plan on ever changing it back. 03-wink

The key to weight loss is diet and mindset and not as much on exercise. Another societal problem is we've been convinced the key to weight loss is getting to the gym. While yes, that helps and is necessary for some, it's not all that important. I achieved most of my goals by just simply eating right and walking. LOTS of walking.

For me, I started using an APP and tracked everything I ate. Once you find out what you're eating and the nutritional content of it, you can then make the necessary changes to it to arrive at a caloric content that works for you. It's tough...and sometimes boring...but you MUST not allow your mind to waiver and accept things like "cheat days," etc.

Good luck keeping it off. If you keep your mind on it, you WILL accomplish it.

Just an update that I made my goal and finished the 9-week challenge down 25 pounds (13.83% lost) at 155.8 pounds and took first place in the challenge earning $425.

Total numbers since beginning my journey:

- Total weight loss 126.2 lbs
- Total inches lost 63.50
- Body age loss 38 yrs (80-42)
- Body fat loss 27%
- Muscle gain 14.5%
- Percent weight loss 44.75%

Also completed by second 5k on the 23rd with a new personal best of 27:10.
