Bellamy, WMU's #3 RB, will likely be out for the game. He's used modestly in the passing game as well.
Their top 2 backs (Franklin and Bogan) will play and still be dangerous. We did well against Ohio's rushing attack, which has been trouble for other teams. Have to work to contain Franklin and Bogan as much as we can Saturday.

The difference will be the ability of the EMU DL to create havoc for the inexperienced WMU QB.
One thing I never really considered vs Army is the DL vs. the RUSH, not the pass. We have some real sack artists in Harris and Crosby, but there were few passes and they were kind of desperation passes at the end of the 1st half.
Now, the question is: Will WMU try to ram the ball down our throats like Army did? (instead of mixing up the run/pass).
Will EMU try 8 in the box like they did vs. Army? Will WMU then try to beat us with the pass?
Comparing the Army rushing attack to WMU is apples and oranges, nobody runs it like Army, except Navy, haha. When your QB is basically a great running back, that's a whole different animal, on top of all the triple option trickeration. Just a tough run O to deal with for ANYBODY. We ran a totally hybrid defense for that game. Won't do the same for the rest of the year. Had more than 8 in the box a lot of times.
WMU will obviously try to run it on us. So far this year, nobody has had consistent success doing that, so we'll see. Neathery certainly knows WMU is a run first team with a 1st year QB, so he'll stop the run first, and make the young QB beat us (if he can).
Being on the losing end of so many tight games this year, probabilities say it's our turn to win a tight one.

Two things comes to mind about Army:
1). Amazing that Bradshaw doesn't get hurt carrying the ball so many times.
2). IF we had made the 2-pt conversion, Army would have been very, very hard pressed to take the ball say 50 yards in 35 seconds with their offense.
I like our chances against the Broncos this week. Our defense matches up well, and their lack of pass rush should give Roback plenty of opportunities to make plays. Win/break even in the turnover battle, and don't have any punting/special teams disasters, and we should be in good shape.
I'll admit it, I am a fan of Tim Lester. He was a great QB at WMU and I think it is cool that they hired one of their own as coach. Should be another close game for EMU, it could go either way. Probably a must win for the former Hurons, now Eagles. Woh, Nelly!

Yeah and I think its great that we hired CC who has rolled up his sleeves through hard work and won at every stop in his college coaching career. It remains to be seen how good of a coach Lester is, especially if and when all PJ's players have graduated or left will tell the tale.

A growing chorus of Broncos not happy about the 'legacy' hire, especially after last week. Usually can't judge a coach for at least 2 years, although Lester was put in a very good situation with a lot of returning talent.
The fact that he was a great Bronco QB is really irrelevant. He really had no notable success in the college ranks, had zero other suitors at the end of last season, and WMU still gave him 815k and made him the highest paid coach in the MAC for some reason? He would have easily taken the job for 500k. The Fleck euphoria I guess.
I said the same thing last week that this is a must win for EMU and CC. The season can be salvaged but we have to beat a very good WMU team to build much needed momentum........

That was a really solid team. Coach English and Kurt Anderson did a really nice job! That team was T-O-U-G-H.
Roback best to avoid his habit of leaning on Bailey too much. Everyone has seen the film. I'd guess WMU will mirror Bailey with Phillips.
If so, and we toss 50/50 balls his way, Phillips will make us pay. Have to kick away from him on KO and punts as well. He's the best player on that team, and an NFL draft pick.
Here's a link to tomorrow's uniform combo. For those that don't know, we are honoring the 1987 and 1967 teams during the game. That sticker down by the football in the link commemorates the '87 California Bowl champs, and will be worn on our helmets.
