If the problem is lack of resources, we need to drop back to FCS. Our resources are tapped out and shrinking and will get worse after a 1-11 or 0-12 football season and another "close but no cigar" basketball season.

Man, stop the dropping back crap. No one wants to hear that. Why don’t you go be a fan of Stoney Brook if you want to be an FCS fan

If you guys want to be a kick ass take on the world G5 football program then show up at football games no matter what the record and financially support your athletic department.

I hope your coaches and players don't bend over and hold their own ass cheeks open for VT next week, at least make Tech fight for it.

Your diploma says Old Dominion University, every season starts 0-0 and every game starts 0-0.

I am not an ODU fan, JMU athletics benefits from a strong ODU for whatever happens during the next round of conferences musical chairs.

I don't have roughly $100k invested in Stoney Brook. You are entitled to your own opinion. My opinion is that we should drop back and continue to enjoy a football atmosphere, without the money pit, and try to get in the A10. I don't see what we are getting out of FBS football for the money. In my opinion, it is no more exciting, no rivalries, no more media money boost, and frankly, other than getting walloped be P5 opponents, the play on the field isn't any better either. I realize there are all the sunk costs in this that makes it difficult for some with a lot invested to admit the mistake.

The issue is the A10 part. I think many would support this approach, but I don't think it is realistic so CUSA (FBS) football and conference affiliation made and makes the best sense . I also think this (Staying in CUSA) requires a MUCH larger commitment from the Alumni base, University, and City if we are to make ODU a top notch CUSA academic and athletic institution. The question is ...Are all 3 willing to do their part ? We will see on the alumni side after this year on the Athletic side anyway.

Gus Malzahn donating $2 million toward Auburn’s football operations building. I understand that he’s making a lot more than Coach Wilder, but wonder what his level of commitment has been over the last 10 years ...

He has taken a below aberage salary for a number of years. If you want to criticize his coaching, thats one thing, but how can anyone criticize his “level of committment?

We are never going back to the fcs. Our resources are not even close to being tapped.
