The BW you see in interviews is most likely very different from what the players see in meetings and practice.

No offense but I disagree with you. We aren't the fans that matter to ODU, unless you give a lot more to ODAF than I do. ODU cares about the huge corporate donors, many of which I'm sure aren't on the message boards.
Do we have a lot of huge corporate donors? Do you think they will continue donating if we keep losing? Wilder has earned a bad season, but some improvements would be nice to see.

Come to ODU! Where it doesn't matter what you do up until then, the first season that you don't play up to expectations, you're out on your ass!

Seems to work for everyone else. I'm not even sure Nick Saban would survive a losing season. I agree that Bobby shouldn't be fired, but let's not pretend that fan anger over poor performance is unique to ODU.

Yeah, I guess the 12th Monarchs that Coach Wilder refers to are the corporate sponsors and not fans.

If you think the 12th Monarchs that the coach talks about is what really matters to this program, then more power to you. The administration cares about the big donors, notice Ballard just got another gig with ODU.
Hillary Clinton also cared about big donors. I actually agree. Woody and the attitude direction of his AD remind me a bit of her and the attitude and direction of her campaign. Interesting analogy, thanks!

OK...I can support this but next year is for sure a hot seat year. BTW...Marshall had many P5 level transfers. Why has BW landed any of them.
I didn't see a talent gap in the game today.

I kind of agree with this. It seems like the administrators are sleepwalking through the FBS and taking a “Well, we’re here. Our work is done” approach. I want Wood and the coaches to be more aggressive and establish ODU as an FBS program. It seems like they’re continuing to learn on the job and not show improvements against FBS opponents.

For fun, I calculated the average margin of loss since we moved up. Here’s what I discovered....

2013: 31
2014: 17
2015: 25
2016: 29
2017 (so far): 33

As you can see, the past three seasons we seem to be getting worse than better. Also we’ve lost only two games at the FBS level by less than 10. I won’t say we need to fire Bobby, but I think a new recruiting approach and program strategy is needed before Liberty surpasses us.

There are many donors on here that donate over $6K/yr. to ODAF. I would say ODAF had better figure out away to generate other revenues.

I didn't realize there were so many big willies on the boards, so I apologize for that. Not sure how you know that there are "many" donors of that level on the boards but I'm trusting another Monarch that you know what you are talking about. My ODAF donation is in the hundreds not the thousands so I don't think they care much about what I think.

Does an ODU contribution come with a disclaimer telling the donor that ODU only cares about fans whose gift exceeds $1000 or more? Why are you trying to make your point stick? Why is ODU obsessed with its' sellout streak. Why is it going to spend millions to build a new stadium with improve fan amenities if it only cared about big donors?
Because people go to games to see wins, not for amenities. And there is no new stadium. It is a renovation to make it more comfortable for the handful of fans that are there for the toilets, seat backs, and pretty scoreboard.

Let me start off by saying the the talk of firing BW is, IMO, premature.

Whomever the QB is, he will not have enough time.
That Williams is left handed is problematic in that the pass rush weakness in our OL is usually on the left side, and Williams is left handed. This forces him to go right. Not the best roll scenario for a lefty.

I am VERY curious as to the status of Drayton Arnold. He looked at least as good as BL and Hoy in the spring, except with a stronger arm.
Has he just not gotten our offense?
It seems odd that he has seen no playing time at all. I cannot believe you throw an entire season getting a 17 year old reps for next year.
If Arnold hasn't "gotten" our offense, he needs to focus on playing golf or something. How many plays do we have, 6? Not exactly the Walsh era 49ers.

I'm not sure I follow what your point is here. ODU isn't different from any other school in that they really don't care much about the donors that give a couple of hundred bucks a year. Just look at the benefits offered at that level. The big dogs call the shots without question.

Where did your 6k number come from? Seems like a random number unless you have inside information to share.

ODU Hoops is EverRespect?

I said the opinons on this forum are relevent to ODU because they come from actual fans who attend ODU athletic events. And Yes, players, admin, Ted Alexander, Andy Mashaw, Harry Minium and other media personalities do indeed come to this forum to gauge the pulse of the ODU fanbase. In fact, if you listen to the game announcers you'll often hear them discuss some of the same talking points contributed to this forum.

I think you were trying to counter by saying that ODU doesn't care about the opinions of fans who don't give big donations. Unless you have inside information, I'll have to dismiss your claim. How many fans that sit inside Foreman Field every Saturday are big donors? What would Foreman Field look like if one day those fans didn't show up? Exactly

Unfortunately those big donors do not make up the majority of the fanbase. Our Monarch Nation is diverse. Some are alumni, some are donors, some are both. Some didn't or don't attend ODU and some don't donate a dime. Some buy season tickets some purchase individual tickets. It wouldn't be a good business decision not to listen to all of your customers.

Good Luck:)

You are joking right ? What game were you watching? Their WR were by our DBs consistently. Their Defense is #1 in CUSA. Their DB were big and fast. Their LB's were bigger and faster. Their DL was better than ours. Finally...their OL was much better

This would seem to be a good point to point out, once again, to "THE SKY IS FALLING" camp that we are not Alabama, and have only been playing actual football games for 8 years.
