This is a non-starter.

EDIT:
Payout is $1.5 million until 12/1/2017. $1.2 million after that until 12/1/2018 and down $300k a year going forward.

Great point ! we made him and the asst. coaches way too comfortable !

Wilder has earned some capital coming off of our best season ever last year.

But this season looks ugly so far and he'd better find a QB and some decent WRs for next year.

No offense but I disagree with you. We aren't the fans that matter to ODU, unless you give a lot more to ODAF than I do. ODU cares about the huge corporate donors, many of which I'm sure aren't on the message boards.

There are many donors on here that donate over $6K/yr. to ODAF. I would say ODAF had better figure out away to generate other revenues.

Come to ODU! Where it doesn't matter what you do up until then, the first season that you don't play up to expectations, you're out on your ass! I swear to God, people around here act like bowl games and +.500 records are God-given rights even though the program is still less than 10 years old. But sure, turf everyone and oh while we're at it, let's drop down a level so we can win more! In fact, **** Division 1! ODU's national title in basketball came in Division 2, so maybe that's where they should be! Until the recruiting falls to that level and they don't automatically get 30 wins in hoops and 10 wins in football every year just by existing, but the good news is there's more levels below. Division 3? Sure, let's line up with Randolph-Macon and CNU in football and CNU and Virginia Wesleyan in hoops! ODU's way bigger and has way better facilities than them, so they should always be in national title contention! And if not? Well, there's always the NAIA! And the NCCAA! Maybe ODU's level has been Mid-Atlantic Christian and Regent all this time!

I really hope some of you people are not tasked with long-term goals in your jobs because if the pearl-clutching and panic-selling around here is any indication, you'd bury your companies by the end of the fiscal year.

This year is going to suck. Get over it and get better. Or fap to the memories of beating Chowan and Campbell. Your choice.

Solid post.

A similar message is being sent to the recruits who we suck at recruiting [/s].

I do strategic planning and have been very successful at it because we spend a lot of time doing SWOT analyses. I can tell you this....we have very few S, many W, few O's, and there are a lot of T's staring us right in our faces.

OK...I can support this but next year is for sure a hot seat year. BTW...Marshall had many P5 level transfers. Why has BW landed any of them.

We are smack dab in the middle of one of the best recruiting areas in the country. We should be much better in football and basketball. Our problem is too many fans willing to settle for mediocre.

Having said that, we'd better beat Charlotte. They lost at home to Georgia State 28-0.

Hey bud....don't set your expectations for a win against UNCC. Honestly we could easily lose the rest of our games. This team has no OL. A very young QB, and a WR that is not even FCS quality.

Folks, as an exercise, go through each individual season we've played. Tally up the good teams verses the really bad teams and that right there will show you why we have a winning record. I'm not even 100% sure I give BW credit for the turnout at games. Lets face it, this is a football starved area and I think sellouts were a guarantee no matter who coached.

RE: Fire Bobby Wilder Thread
When Wilder was hired, he said he wanted to compete for FCS championships for years to come.

I forgive him for his FBS shortcomings. He never thought the realignment train would stop at ODU.

With that said, look for Wilder to release Nagy and Scott in the offseason and replace them with better FBS coaches.

Go Monarchs!

I didn't realize there were so many big willies on the boards, so I apologize for that. Not sure how you know that there are "many" donors of that level on the boards but I'm trusting another Monarch that you know what you are talking about. My ODAF donation is in the hundreds not the thousands so I don't think they care much about what I think.

I feel like we are just now seeing the loss of Zohn. These WRs don't block well, their routes aren't crisp, none seem able to get any separation, they drop far too many balls and none (except for Vaughn) seem to have the instinct to fight for balls. We didnt feel his loss last year thanks to the amazing chemistry between Pascal and Washington.

Does an ODU contribution come with a disclaimer telling the donor that ODU only cares about fans whose gift exceeds $1000 or more? Why are you trying to make your point stick? Why is ODU obsessed with its' sellout streak. Why is it going to spend millions to build a new stadium with improve fan amenities if it only cared about big donors?

No it's not. Everyone is afraid to lose Bobby Wilder because he is the only coach Old Dominion football has ever known. He is proving day in and day out he cannot coach at the FBS level. What is his answer to Marshall? We will slow the game down. That is a loser tactic! There are plenty of coaches out there with FBS experience hell we could bring James Madison's coaching staff in here and be more successful. If we were Liberty we would have won probably our last four games. This type of play is definitely going to change fan interest, because this is just ridiculous. They have no answers for nothing they couldn't do anything on offense. Marshall was doing the same thing Florida Atlantic was doing to us the last week how the hell do you not recognize that? I don't know what's going to happen but something needs to be done.

A big part of it is the loss of Duhart. The deoth bwhind him was just too young, but t better QB play would help.
