If ODU was going out and contesting the shots aggressively, then one would expect a few fouls to be called against defenders.
I understood your logic and reasoning. Being overly aggressive guarding out to the 3 point line would result in a few fouls but at least you’d be contesting every shot.
They read it as you intentionally fouling all 3 point shots.
SHOCKING

Yeah, I read "you need to to be aggressive to the point of scarificing some PFs" as fouling three point shooters. But screw me, right?

What I meant was that when a poster asked if we were aggressive vs the three pointer. I said no because there was not one three point shooting foul called against us.
IMHO, had we really been aggressive against a team shooting 60%, I would have expected at least couple of fouls out of 25 attempts.
I did not intend to imply that we should intentionally foul on every 3 pt. shot. Indeed I don't think we should intentionally foul on any of them.

Its logic fallacy to believe you cant be agressive at the 3 point line without fouling.

Of course you can.
However, in that particular game, an even more aggressive posture might have yielded a better result.
What we were doing wasn't working, and we made no change.

RE: Fire Bobby Wilder Thread
I'm confused....is this the fire jj thread, or the fire bw thread? Just want to make sure I'm in the right headspace while reading.

For whatever faults he might have as a coach, BW is one hell of a public speaker.

You might be on to something there... Would that be considered a promotion?

Not from a salary standpoint.

Pretty sure I saw something recently that showed Wood making more than BW, but normally you are correct.

RE: Fire Bobby Wilder Thread
BW will definitely be around for another year - especially given the VT and NTX wins. If the ECU game had gone our way, we would actually be playing for a bowl next week.
Also, I was looking at the schedule next year - and we play VT and UVA on the road and ECU at home. Not easy games, and you know VT is going to be out of blood. It’s going to be tough to get to six wins/bowl. The ECU game should be a blast and will demonstrate why we should be playing them every year. Natural rival.

I might be more stoked for the home ECU game than I was for VT. If we beat them it isn't nearly as important or better than a ranked VT but it just means more to me personally. ECU was the first college games I ever attended and a lot of my friends from 252 will be driving up.

WTH that is just an insane amount of money for who is doing such a horrible job. I would dock 200 grand and add that a potential FB or MBB coach salary.

He has gotten a $170,000 raise in 4 years with the results we have?! Talk about fools and their money being soon parted.

Beating ECU, especially if we can do it on a more or less regular basis will long term have greater implications than a rare upset over Tech. Think AAC.
Plus, what a great, natural rivalry within easy driving distance.

Agreed. They're bottom-mid right now in the AAC so we need the optics.
