RE: Toledo at Central Michigan game thread
It's rare to go on the road and play a complete game and to do it in division is even sweeter. A very solid win for Toledo. Toledo has adjusted to major personnel losses at OL and at WR. That's depth and good coaching. This is a fun seaon so far.

Go Rockets!!!

League is on notice. We can throw and run the ball.

Very pleased! The defense was assisted a bit by the weather but really nice to get a few turnovers. Won this one controlling the line of scrimmage which is really good to see. 04-cheers

Fun watching the defense today. Sort of a no-name D. Not sure we have any first team all MAC guys, but they are getting or done.

Actually I think their coach realized to even have a sliver of a prayer of winning they had to score on this drive and at that point he was still more concerned about his extremely remote chance of coming back to win it than he was about the margin of defeat. Coaches usually make the "safe" call hoping to extend the game and hope their defense gives them another chance rather than gamble the whole ball of wax with that much time left on the clock but he was three scores behind and Toledo had shown that they could move the ball on his team so despite the odds against him it was now or never. I thought he shows guts making that call although it sealed his fate when it failed.

The rain really stepped it up too.

And hindered the UT passing game.

I guess we'll see. We seem to play well in the rain. I think it threw CMU totally thrown off their game. The QB did OK but the WR's really let him down. Should have tried to mix in the run a lot more earlier IMO because their passing game was going nowhere.

As far as UT, it seemed to me that we changed up the running game a little. Instead of trying to continually slam it up the middle and hit a wall we started slashing it to the outside more and let the defense open the holes instead of our OL.

Next up, Akron. Will they still be 2-0 after today?

I think we could have passed more if we wanted to, just didn't need to in that rain. If I was coaching and the running game was working, I'd stick with it until they stopped us and they didn't.

Yeah I noticed the cut-back runs by our RB's. It reminded me of the couple of long runs Hunt had for the chief's earlier this year. Get the DL moving one way and then cut back and off to the races. Seymore is going to be fun to watch. The vertical passing game is exciting, but I just love watching a 200lb road grader mow over the opposition. Combine him with Sim's and we may not need to throw the ball...ha!

Same. Kelly Shorts is in desperate need of an upgrade. Stadium had no life to it and their end zone football complex is a complete joke. It was pretty much emptied out by the 3rd quarter (great support there CMU fans), but at least they had a pretty good tailgating scene.

I don't blame the cmu fans for leaving. Terrible weather and the team wasn't giving them much reason to stay.

For the weather conditions, they probably had a couple hundred more there at the end then we would have. Of course, those were visiting fans but still..

Naw can't play blame game. Even the under Press Box in the Glass Bowl would have emptied out, given the same game, reversed score.

He has some of the best Freshman clips. I've mentioned them before. He got into a couple scraps with some BIG dudes after kicks.
