I know I'm in the minority, but I would rather USF continue to play in RJS than commit a third of a billion dollars on a stadium that would get used 10 days a year. UCF did what they had to do because the Citrus Bowl was going to be unavailable. But then again, RJS is ten times nicer than the Citrus Bowl.

Let me be clear. Driving a POS car is 100 times better than not having a car. Not having a car should be humiliating.
Umm....wrong analogy...public transit...err... nevermind

But driving your dad's Porsche is 100 times better than driving your own rusted out Yugo.

Coming up with a brutal analogy should be humiliating.

Our choice at the time was to build a stadium immediately or play at a local high school while they renovated the CB. Considering all the obvious benefits of an OCS it was a no brainer.

Anyone questioning it only has to look at USF's level of support vs ours. We're extremely similar schools but only one of us invested in building campus traditions.

$14m is a drop in the bucket in that regard.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - UCF did exactly what they needed to do given the circumstances.

And let's not pretend that somehow an OCS has made you guys the poster child for support. Plenty of articles about your own attendance woes even this season, and plenty of pictures of your stadium with empty seats. This is like the public discourse in our country right now - pointing out the faults of others to either deflect criticism of your own faults or hope to distract people from noticing.

This is nothing. The money UCF saved initially more than offsets this.

Man I sure hope UH doesn't have that kind of problem in a few years with their new stadium. They are just now finishing it up according to the original specs, and despite the lousy name, Texas Dow Employees Credit Union paid UH a bunch of money for the rights and it is a great place to watch a football game. Well actually, the giant video screen did stop working last week during the game against SMU.

Contributions to South Florida Athletics:

2005 - $2,675,193
2006 - $2,092,880
2007 - $2,135,633
2008 - $2,842,750
2009 - $2,932,840
2010 - $2,893,587
2011 - $2,735,003
2012 - $3,053,827
2013 - $2,442,458
2014 - $3,719,221
2015 - $2,454,618
2016 - $2,942,660

Summary: Contributions at South Florida are still at 2005 levels.

Contributions to UCF Athletics:

2005 - $3,357,302
2006 - $2,431,244
2007 - $2,925,301
AFTER ON-CAMPUS STADIUM
2008 - $6,457,320
2009 - $5,209,455
2010 - $5,308,200
2011 - $6,370,570
2012 - $4,712,416
2013 - $5,088,098
2014 - $5,424,975
2015 - $9,733,191
2016 - $6,918,969

S. Florida fans can lie to themselves all they want about how satisfied they are with their current situation but until they take that next step, the program will always be stuck in neutral. UCF after the on-campus stadium customarily receives two times to three times the amount of contributions they received prior to playing on campus.

Combine this with the accompanying increase in recruiting, competitiveness, and national exposure and the amount spent on the stadium is a drop in the bucket in comparison.

UCF 10+ Win Seasons After OCS: 5

For some reason it doesn’t stop those without a car from trying to make fun of the people with the budget car.

Wrong analogy, maybe you'd rather drive a rented pirate parade float around instead of owning a new Kia.

Minnesota received $3.5M in contributions in 2009. After their move from the downtown Metrodome to their new on-campus stadium, contributions have not dropped below $7M and in the last few years have gone into the teens.
