While I agree that I find it hard to imagine David making an NBA roster, so much about an athlete's career is dictated by his situation. Had Marcus been drafted somewhere that could've used a servicable young guard that can shoot, then he may have a completely different career arc. Plenty of phenomenal players miss rosters in all sports, while plenty of (relatively) mediocre ones start a lot of games.
