You're right.

It proved we were 4+ TDs better than Troy, though... at their house.

Congratulations on your big win, Techster.

While the two of you argue, there are two others who have it right.

ULM's Caleb Evans has accounted for 14 touchdowns. That's as many as Hansen. And, he's does it without throwing a single interception. His streak of passes without an interception is third...not in the Sun Belt...but all of the FBS.

And, he doesn't have the supporting cast of Arkansas State or Troy to make him look better.

At the end of the season you may have something to strut about.

But today, Caleb Evans is the best QB in the league.

He probably is the most underrated QB. He seems to have found his groove. I'm glad Troy doesn't have to play ULM this season... that's a death trap.

Passer Rating is a more accurate representation of what ESPN does to calculate their score. Evans 14 TD's and 0 INTs vs Hansen's 14 TDs and 6 INTs where all other stats are comparable it's a no brainer that Evans is a much better quarterback.

Come on! Its true he kept you in the game with the four picks but he also kept you in the losing column with some great throws. All accomplished while playing with a bad back. Look up his stats when he is healthy and overall performance. But hey, even when he should not have been on the field, his team spanked yours. So much for that.
If we were close to being a good team, his stats might mean something.

We get it. You can't stop gushing over Hansen and how he's apparently setting the world on fire... you know, since he completed less than 50% of his passes and threw 4 interceptions against Georgia Southern's vaunted defense (the #107 ranked pass defense in the nation, that is).

He was playing hurt, but thanks for making my point...

Despite that horrible game, he is still rated 13 points higher than the 2nd highest rated QB in the Sun Belt at this time.

That's a fact. Dispute it all you want.

Awesome. Grats. I remember when the best SBC QB played for Georgia State. Arkansas State will be a force to be reckoned with.

It's passing stats. They don't take rushing touchdowns into account, which any logical person would. Evans has a 14-0-5 touchdown, INT, sack ratio. Hansen's is 14-6-7. Those are the facts.

RE: There is not a better QB
Caleb is progressing very well, but still very young. He is a true Sophomore and beat out a two year starter for the job. A lot of upside and seems to be improving weekly as well as building confidence. Don't want to jinx the kid by calling him the best in the SBC but we really do like him. Very athletic, good size and great arm. He was having a little trouble with the 50/50 balls but seems to have found his mark against Texas State. Our WRs give him a lot of help. RJ Turner and Brian Williams are big physical guys with Marcus Green the Speedster. He connects regularly with those guys....look out.

I'm not going to dispute it. I don't care what his QB rating is. LSU's QB Danny Etling has a much higher rating than Hansen on the season, and he would ride Troy's bench. The QB rating factors in just stats, not decision-making abilities. So the QB rating system is worthless when showing how good a QB truly is overall.

Just curious... would you say Hansen is a better game manager than Taylor Lamb?

Watch Lamb's body language at around the 5:10 mark. None of our QB's from the last 15 years have looked like that on the field. They have a little more fire and a little less ....well....hopelessness. I'm not saying he does that all the time, he's a good qb....but it showed then.

RE: There is not a better QB
I have always read posts on here and never posted, but when I read this, I laughed out loud. I was at the GS game watching the misery of our competitive decline. One of my comments after the game was how awful AState's QB looked. Several of his early attempts at pinpoint throws ended in interceptions so he was relegated to lobbing jump balls most of the remainder of the game. To the receivers credit, they beat our DB's on several of those to score touchdowns. Maybe his back has something to do with it, but he has terrible mechanics, throws almost entirely off his back foot, and never looked poised in the pocket. I highly doubt he is the best in the SBC......if he is Lord help us all!

Not practicing and being at about 85% physically will put a damper on a players play, and a back injury certainly effects a ones ability to pass the ball.

Hansen is what he is........... a highly recruited, athletic, four star QB who is playing well. He helped his team win a co-championship his first year, and is a lot better this year than last year, and should get better as the year goes along.

I would not trade him for any QB in the SBC.

Winston is just trolling ya'll.

Yes. A healthy Hansen throws funny and lobs 98% of his throws. However, he is quite effective.

He can even run a little when he has to too. I'd put him up there with the top of the SBC, but not the best. However, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he earns Offensive POY either.

I'll agree with that. He's a very capable QB. Certainly more effective this year than last.

How crazy is it that we have had 10 turnovers in our 2 games with GA SO and still won? That is nuts. That lets me know that both teams need to improve.

It is also nuts that in the five years since App and GASO joined the Sunbelt each of them has only played us twice in football.
