Well your trash coach did hire a proven cheater for his DL coach, wonder when they'll get caught cheating again?
I know it's difficult for UT San Antonio alums to read past the first line, being that they're taught to find context clues in the headline their senior year, but try to keep up.
Edit: Looks like it was more than "hugs". But you can keep telling yourself it was just that, whatever helps you sleep at night. Probably similar to some of the people joking about Harvey Weinstein. You know, the guy from the news? Or do you not get cable in your trailer park?

Does any of this change the fact that UTSA is 3-1 vs North Texas? Or, that NT is out recruited every year by UTSA?

I've read the reports. The guy is a PHOTOGRAPHER. Absolutely shocking that he took photographs of people. And now you'd like to equate these allegations to rape? Please.
I think I did see Joey Greco on campus once, so you may be onto something with the cheating.

(10-08-2017 08:56 PM)Side Show Joe Wrote: Many UTSA fans Hate North Texas, and we don't care much for them either. Maybe the loss to Southern Miss will keep some from trash talking the week, but I have a feeling the self restraint will quickly pass, and most will be at each other throats by Saturday. Here is a quick rundown of the History of Hate for those wondering just how we got to this point...
2012- UTSA joins the WAC (In the months leading up to the invitation, myself and maybe a few other North Texas fans frequented the WAC board and expressed our displeasure at the addition.=USTA fans didn't appreciate this)
Later in 2012- It was announced that UTSA would be joining C-USA for the 2013 season (Myself, a few other UNT fans, and some UTEP fans expressed our displeasure about this addition = USTA fans didn't appreciate this)
2013- UTSA@North Texas, San Antonio came to Denton and squeaked out a victory (21-13) over our very good HOD Bowl championship team. (This loss kept UNT for the C-USA title game, and it has been perceived that UTSA fans generally annoyed the UNT fans and were not very respectful of our stadium = North Texas fans didn't appreciate this)
2015- In a season of unprecedented losses, and under the guidance of an interim head coach, North Texas earned our only victory of the season by topping an almost equally miserable UTSA team 30-23 in Denton.(After pointing out our terrible loss to Portland State for a large portion of the season, North Texas fans were quick to point out that UTSA had now become the only team to lose to our team = USTA fans didn't appreciate this)
2016- Leading up to this game at the Alamodome, players on both sides openly expressed their dislike for each other. North Texas lost the game. ( "allegedly" at some point North Texas players pissed on the UTSA field. North Texas went on to recieve a Heart of Dallas Bowl invitation despite a 5-7 record, while UTSA (6-6) was sent to New Mexico. = USTA fans didn't appreciate this)
Which bring us to the 2017 addition of this clash of Good (North Texas) vs. Evil (UTSA).
Wow I had no idea Mean Green fans hated professional tennis so much!

the North Texas program has a larger athletic budget, a larger alumni base, and we actually own a football stadium. The only "trash" is your misguided comment.
You forgot to mention your impressive. 300 winning percentage since your return to FBS. Stadiums can be built and alumni will increase all in due time--UTSA is still relatively young after all.
Your issue of being a trash program OTOH, good luck with that. It's hard to shake that label after so many decades of mediocrity.

Eh. UTSA has a losing record in 7 years also.
I think NT takes this one but in a good game. More detail here.
TL;DR -> The numbers do not reflect the improvement in the secondary with Jenkins starting nor to they reflect how UTSA will fare against an even better offense than Southern Miss. NT wins by 8.

I think we both know you are being intellectually dishonest. All losing records aren't created equal (we're at .457) and .300 over the course of 3 decades is alot different than over your first 7 years of existence.
The game should be close. I think both fanbases will likely pick their team in a close one.

Nah.
The fact that NT could produce and fund a program is > than not producing one. So a .300 record and all the good and bad experiences associated with it is > than a N/A. If you disagree with that, then why did UTSA build a program in the first place?
UTSA should have a slightly better win percentage than they do. While there are many similarities between NT and UTSA, UTSA does not have nearly the regional competition that NT does. The circumstances could not be more dissimilar. In the immediate 100 miles only Texas St and UT for attendance.
NT competes with SMU, TCU, and damned-near weekly visits from A&M, 'Bama, Michigan, Arkansas, etc in the Jerry Dome. With all of that UTSA averages 5K more people this season.
With any luck the best UTSA can hope for is a UAB situation.

Does the same logic hold true for why UNT does not have a baseball team?

My statement was that Texas Northern has a trash program, not that they have a young program. Being around a long time doesn't spare you from the trash label.
UT has more clout than TCU and SMU combined. 5k is not an insignificant amount at our level, that's upwards of 25% of what you average. The best we can hope for is a UAB situation? Haha that's just dumb. Give us the opportunity to build a consistent winner before you imply we've reached our ceiling when it comes to fan support. I mean it's always possible we don't ever build that consistent winner (Texas Northern is a prime example of that) but I'm optimistic that we will.

You don’t understand. There are big time programs in our backyard all the time and yet with two million people all to yourselves you can’t manage but 5K more than NT.
UAB has been a winner as is the ceiling. Birmingham has about the same population as SA and Bama/Auburn is UT/A&M. TCU/Baylor/Houston have all the rest. It’s a tough market. UAB is not a bad goal.

I understand just fine. You're the one that doesn't seem to understand that 5k isn't an insignificant amount at the G5 level. Or that TCU and SMU combined don't come close to having UT's clout. We don't have 2 million people to ourselves as many San Antonians (including myself) grew up UT fans, and unless they're associated with UTSA most of those 2 million people generally look down on G5 football just like the majority of the country does.
We seem to have a loyal ~25k core group of supporters. Thats a good start and significantly more than UAB averaged since we joined CUSA. I'm interested to see what kind of bump in attendance we'd receive once the program becomes a consistent winner.

Unlike UTSA we have been playing football for over 100 years. And all fans of programs with long histories understands that there are ups and downs along the way. We have been down in recent years, but still maintain an overall record above the .500 mark. North Texas has some skins n the wall (bowl wins, college and NFL Hall of Famers, and NCAA FBS records). UTSA has yet to hang any skins in that rented dome.

Don't try to sell me this crap about how youre like every other hundred year old program. You aren't. You're a bottom of the barrel hundred year old program. Not many programs can claim they have a .300 winning percentage since 95' (your return to FBS) or that they are 243-323-11 since 53'. You've had about 65 years of continued mediocrity.
Again, the only reason I hate losing to Texas Northern is bc if we lose to bottom of the barrel programs what does that make us?

North Texas focuses on the positives. We are in the same division with Rice, and academic titan that was once a member of the old SWC. We are in a division with UTEP, a program we faced 25 times since 1951. We are in a division with LA Tech another program we have play for quite a while, with fifteen 15 games since 1976. We are also in a division with Southern Miss, a team we have faced 12 times since 1954.
So, I wouldn't say we are "stuck" here. North Texas wants to be here with these schools... With the many glaring deficiencies of UTSA, y'all are lucky to be in such good company.

I don't think I've ever met a fan that brags about how many games they've PLAYED against certain teams. Is there a trophy case on campus that I can check out this weekend to see all those participation trophies?

UTSA has yet to hang any skins in that rented dome.
And despite all that history, you are still stuck in a conference with a 7-year-old program that plays in a rented dome and has a 3-1 record against you. Must suck.
Nice try. I'm not bragging about a participation trophy. We have more wins then loses combined against those teams. Trying to change the narrative doesn't change the truth. North Texas is in a conference with teams it should be with, and UTSA is here despite not measuring up to the collective standards of the other member in C-USA West. Maybe that's one of the reasons some people have referred to UTSA as a community college.
