I could see that. Have to see if anyone gets past our defense. Lord knows we aren't going to score a lot of points.

So what you're saying.....

Western at Marshall could be a 7 to 6...13-10 score?

Other than the NCST game...Western and Marshall played similar schedules vs awful offensive teams. Marshall 17.4ppg - Western 19ppg

I don't know if either are as good as the points allowed...one thing is 100% for sure. Both are awful on offense

I haven't watched but one Marshall game but Marshall has played some really awful offensive teams other than NCST.

Miami (OH) 92nd in points scored 25 ppg vs Marshall 26
NCST 35.5 PPG VS Marshall 37
Kent State 10 ppg (130) vs Marshall 0 (Kent scored 0-3 4 times)
Cincinnati 22.8ppg (104) vs Marshall 21 (scored 21-23 3 games 26 vs APeay
Charlotte 12.8 ppg (127) vs Marshall 3 (UNCC scored 0-7 4 times)

Western looks similar vs the schools played...with UNCC coming to town this week. Luckily other than FAU there doesn't look to be a good offensive team in the east.

I could see that. Or I could see us playing possum till the meat of the conference schedule. I honestly don't know. I've seen some very good play calls, some very bad ones, and some good ones that just didn't get executed well. I think the first half of the season has been one big practice for the second half.

We held NCState to their average...unimpressive. But so did Louisville and FSU....more impressive. Not bad company to be with. They are going to play some lower tier ACC schools and that average is going to go up.

Both teams have room to grow on offense and to be honest I have more confidence in Doc than Western coach. Like I said I only seen one Marshall game so I really don't have a clue other than stats.....

I know stats on Western side is misleading. While on paper the defense looks about as good as Marshall's. Based on what I saw (not seeing Marshall's) from Western. That defense is clearly been helped from playing awful offensive teams. So honestly I don't have confidence it's half as good as the numbers show.

But on Oct 8th the east is about as bad as it was good the last few years when it comes to offense.

Pissed has nothing to do with it...

I know USM needs UTSA to beat North Texas, but you should wait and see how healthy both teams are heading into the game, and look at important factors before you make your pick. Lets face it, that UTSA defense isn't as great as many thought.

Not so sure.. They had a bad week.. I think for UNT.. UTSA losing was the worse thing that could of happened for them. UTSA will know its season is on the line, cannot start 0-2 in conference.

But looking forward to the game and the fun ribbing online and twitter.

This entire week UTSA is going to be chomping at the bit to go out and practice and right the ship and prove the previous week was uncharacteristic of their team. This was exactly the case with USM. We lost at home to UNT after we were up 21-7 in the 1st quarter...there's no excuse for that. So our guys went out Monday and took practice super personal all week (with a little chip on their shoulder) just itching to go out and prove something. UTSA will do the same and take it out on UNT. Again, with scenarios like this the stats are thrown out the window and the same thing applies with UTSA/UNT.

UTSA 45
UNT 31

Sturm will probably toss a zillion TDs in this game.

I think hard facts are a better indicator for picking winners.

Last night it looked like a few key UTSA players got dinged up. It appeared Sturm hyper-extended his throwing arm on a pass in the first half, though he did end up playing a good game. Stewart appeared to take a hard shot to the knee at the end of a catch. And Jupe also had to leave the game. Not saying they are going to miss our game next week, but their health will be an important story to keep an eye on.

UTSA can show up to Denton anxious to play, as long as North Texas shows up prepared to play.

You are both right in my book. Southern Miss earned that win for sure (much props) but UTSA did have multiple shots to win that game that never happened either due to great defense or mistakes (dropped balls, bad routes) Defensively, UTSA had no game plan for the offense w/o Griggs and were floundering to try to keep up with the explosive plays (flea flicker and Ito run) Just ran out of time. It was an uncharacteristic game by UTSA and I agree they will be fired up and ready to roll this week.

Side Show is also correct about injuries. Lots of injuries from UTSA. Sturm was hurt early but he is a tough guy and still finished the game with a career best throwing game. He should be fine. The real issue is the Offensive Line. During Southern Miss, UTSA was down a ton of lineman including having to play a 4th string OG and several freshmen. Without a line, UTSA will not be able to run the ball which puts all the pressure back on Sturm (see USM game)

It would be interesting if they did. UNT beat USM at USM and USM beat UTSA at UTSA. However, UAB beat LTech in Birmingham and UNT beat UAB in Denton. Home team doesn't seem important at this point?
