RE: Game Week: @Army
BTW, do they park cars on the grass (as well as parking lots)? For the life of me, I can't see how they can get 5 - 10,000 cars inside the garrison, looking at the parking lots.
The parking lots might be adequate for an EMU home FB game.

this is reunion weekend for the USMA Classes of 1997, 2002, 2007, and 2012, so the place will be crowded
wear comfortable shoes, lots of hills
try to get to the stadium well before KO time, you'll have to go through security at the stadium
please take the time to talk to a cadet or three - you are paying for their education, so you should check up on your investment
Curious about the 'hills' comment:
Aren't the shuttle buses supposed to drop patrons off near the stadium?
Or are you referring that a lot of folks will walk from their lots to the stadium, without aid of vehicles?
People do both, and depends on what your plans are leading up to the game. We usually take the bus to watch the "Review on the Plain", and then hang out at Grant Hall, which is the eatery within the Cadet area, and then walk to Michie Stadium, which is honestly all uphill, with a ton of steps, and then you walk across Lusk Reservoir, the body or water that most of you see on TV. Its a very beautiful and nice walk, but if any physical hardships would be a problem. The buses pick up and drop off throughout the day, running in a circuit, so if you want to take the buses, no problem. They will drop you right at the stadium, and there is no charge. Only problem is that after the game very long lines to get on a bus, and it takes a while.
I can not emphasize enough; if you are attending this game and have never been to West Point, do yourself an enormous favor and spend as much time as you can driving and walking around , particularly in the non-restricted areas around the Cadet area, and along the Hudson. If the weather is decent I 100% guarantee you that you will be glad you checked it out. It is nothing short of amazing. The buildings are historical, immaculate, and impressive in terms of their architecture. The residential housing is picturesque. And these are the exact grounds where Grant, Lee (and just about every other general in the Civil War), Eisenhower, Patton, MacArthur (and the list goes on) spent four years learning to become officers and leaders. So check it all out.

I think all paved parking, except maybe Buffalo Soldier Field, but the lots are all over the base. It all works.

Confirmed. BSF is the only one I can think of that is not paved.
Also, even if brovol and/or I have already said it, this bears repeating: get to West Point early -- traffic is always an issue

I'm in SW NH, and the colors are late this year - 80 degree days in September will do that
ilovny.com has the image below: West Point is just south of Poughkeepsie, obviously on the west bank of the Hudson, which puts it firmly in "just changing"....
https://smokymountains.com/fall-foliage-map/ provides a nifty little slider which predicts peak during your visit

Love ya Steve, but I think we are all more concerned with the game than the color of the leaves.

Yes, this has been an interesting thread, parking, shuttles, leaves and not too much about the Army option offense...
Hey, the players will love seeing the colors.

RE: Game Week: @Army
As for the game, this will be a good one. I have watched both teams play. EMU is much better than its record. Army has not yet beat a team as good as EMU, but it is playing well right now. It will come down to how well EMU defends Army's offense. If your boys can figure it out then you have a good shot at winning. If not, you may be frustrated by the end of the day. Buffalo contained it well, and at the time I thought that was a very poor reflection on Armys team, but after watching Buffalo give my WMU Broncos everything last week, I think Buffalo is much better than they were last season.
Anything can happen, and I think it will be a great game. I honestly think Army plays better on the road than at home. Cadets have so many responsibilities at home, but get a break from that when on the road.
I am rooting for Army, but if they lose its best that it is to a MAC school. I plan to attend the WMU/EMU game in Ypsilanti, so hope your boys at least get worn out.

I think the key is Bradshaw. If he can't complete his passes, I see EMU winning a defensive struggle... His passing hasn't been impressive so far this season.

Seems like they've shifted to a different QB to come in when they want to pass.

Bradshaw is a terrible passer, and always has been. He will miss guys who are so open that the defenses just stop running because if the receiver catches the ball it will be a TD. But Army might not even throw a pass in a game. When they do there is always one or two guys all alone. The last couple weeks they started tossing the ball a few times more than usual. Navy and Air Force have similar offenses, but passing is a much more important component of their game. Not nearly as much with Army.
It's still a very tricky offense to figure it out. You guys have a good athletic defense, which will help. Game will be interesting.

They're in a hotel Friday night for home games. Sure, they leave earlier for flights to road games, but they don't miss out on many responsibilities by leaving slightly earlier to fly. Maybe a class or two....

Haven't really done that, except in one desperation scenario (@ Tulane, down 4, drive began with 17 seconds remaining in game). We certainly haven't been in "uh-oh, it's 3rd & 10+, let's put in the guy with the arm" mode this season.
