How can you put NMSU above App when App literally just beat them by double digits and is undefeated in conference. Our 2 losses are Georgia (which any Sun Belt team loses to) and Wake Forest and we did everything but win against them.

Troy is #1 no question but since App doesn’t play Troy I predict Troy and App share the title.

Head scratcher for sure.

Everyone has their own opinions. Mine is that NMSU is the better team overall and that one game doesn't mean much. App would have lost in Las Cruces. It's incredibly hard to win in Boone. I've watched many a game there where the better team didn't win. Like I said, everyone has their own ranking system and opinions. If you don't like mine, make your own.

That's a good point. They won by two TD's as someone else mentioned, but the game was clearly in doubt very late in the game. Two evenly matched teams.

I remember two specific passes with opposite results.

When NMSU had momentum, Rogers threw and hit an open guy in the hands (maybe led him a little too much but catchable) but the NMSU WR let it bounce off his hands and an APP defender happened to be close enough to where it bounced to make a diving interception.

Later, when APP needs a red zone 1st down Lamb forces one between two defenders and the ball gets popped up into the air and happens to end up in the APP WRs hands. Worse throw/decision than Rogers with a much better result.

Can't argue with Troy, can with App. They have not looked impressive in some less difficult games. Until someone can beat State, think I'll put us up there. No need to fuss however. We will know the answers fairly soon even if we don't play App.

RE: Power Ranking Week 6
Neither App, stAte, nor NMSU looked very good this week. We have to remember that while stAte won a game by multiple scores as expected, they turned it over 5 times. App managed to force 6 turnovers and still was trailing NMSU in the 4th quarter, and NMSU couldn't get out of their own way against App in that entire game.

Thus

1. Troy
2. ULM
Tie (3) stAte
Tie (3) App
5. NMSU
6. ULL
7. GSU
8. Idaho
9. USA
10. Georgia Southern
11. Coastal Carolina
12. Texas State

Troy still has to show they can be an offensively dominant team. Until somebody can slow down Arkansas State's offense, they're number one. They will only get better as the season progresses.

To finish at the top though, we have to prove we can stop somebody. I think we'll score a lot of points, but winning every game 40-30 isn't really sustainable.

This is where the teams are graphically IMO.

Troy
App
.
.
StAte (sorry, I'd like to believe we got 500 yards of total offense because we're getting better, but that tackling by Ark State really was bad. lucky for StAte they don't play App because App's offense would shred that greasy-handed defense)
.
.
.
.
ULM
UL
NMSU
Idaho
South Alabama
.
.
GS
GSU
Texas State
Coastal

The teams that are together are more or less even IMO.

This one gets my vote. I'd say NMSU is tied for 4th. The arguments that App has been inconsistent is the exact same argument I'd use for stAte. I've seen nothing from them that would make me think they're top two. Give the nod to ULM for having 3 conference wins. Troy is #1 right now no questions asked. Bout as homer as it get to have your team above Troy.

Am I the only one not buying into Monroe quite yet. It's not to say they aren't that good but they've beaten a middle of the pack ULL team in 2OT, a coastal team that is showing their young age (no offense coastal, you will get there) by one possession, and a Texas State team who is supposedly a bottle dweller still (granted we as App fans can't talk about that opponent). I mean I know beating New Mexico State, Savannah State, and Texas State isn't a world beater schedule but NMSU is somewhat of a quality victory and we almost took down a very solid Wake Team. We also have majority of our team back this year from last year's conference champion team. I'm not saying we are the top team necessarily but are you really ready to put ULM in front of us? To each their own though if you are! That's why we play the game. Cheers!

Well A-State got in their first 4 games in their usual unimpressive manner but listening to their HC post game comments he obviously is not concerned based on his response to questions.

They are better than they were last year at this point, and Anderson seems to be confident they are going to continue to get better.

I dont know if we're any good (especially the defense), but we for sure have the most favorable schedule in the Sun Belt and the QB is turning into a monster. I think we'll be a top 5 Sun Belt team, but that's partially because of how the schedule worked out for us. Who knows what we can do if they team buys in from the confidence of the wins though. We looked super good Vs Texas State.

First off ULM should not be in front of y’all. ULM should be 4-5 till we knock App or AstAte out. We just need to make progress this year and maybe get enough to get six wins. It’s all about 2018. We lose 5 starters 7 lettermen that are playing. It was four senior starters but a sophomore starter got injured. Return almost the whole team with several freshman. Regardless if you don’t buy in now 2018 you should.

Probably going to be a repeat but next year might be a little different.

They will probably be picked to win next year.

They are ahead of last year and should kick into gear pretty soon and baring a lot of injuries will be the best team they have had in this recent run.

Even in startup mode they have been pretty good and should have beaten Nebraska, and if they had not lost their QB SMU would have been down to the wire.

Even as is will be hard for most SBC teams to beat , but they are not going to stay in startup mode.

Hypothetical beatings are the best! Also, when you score three TDs in less than 5 minutes and you score on big plays it tends to skew a stat sheet.
