Griggs is hurt.. He is still the better qb of the 2.
"He could have played" Know what im sayin?

The Griggs injury was kept top secret apparently as even the media that regularly tweet/write about USM seemed just as shocked about Keon starting as our fans were.

Huh? He didn't start against Kentucky because of his left hand. I'm guessing they decided to do something more about it this past week, thus the cast. However, they wouldn't have had him travel and dress out if he wasn't available to come in if Howard played poorly. Hopefully he will heal up and we can have him available later in the season.

Was referring to Keon starting at UTSA. On twitter, shortly before the game started, when asked if Keon was starting Munz replied "not that i know of"

Gotcha. You weren't saying the injury was a secret, just that we were starting Howard.

RE: FINAL: USM 31 UTSA 29
I went to this game and there were about 2 or 3 plays or so that made the difference. Sturm's INT when UTSA was about to go up by 13 points. 14 point swing. If UTSA scores there, they may run away and hide. Second, the dropped TD by the UTSA receiver in the 4th, who was wide open. UTSA had to settle for a FG instead of 7 when trying to make a comeback. The flea flicker by USM was another. Also the inability of UTSA to stop Ito Smith was a huge factor in this game. I was extremely impressed with his shiftiness in person.

Luckyshot, it was a finger on his throwing hand (right) he banged up in fall camp that kept Griggs from starting against UK. The injury to his left hand occurred during the UNT game according to reports.

Really? My bad then.

Yeah, I just looked up his career stats and I didn't realize he was that good. Very impressive. Side note, he does look pretty small in person. But very fast and shifty. Able to find holes where none exist and bounce it outside.

So, anyone ever hear an explanation on the Staggers fumble. It was definitely a fumble, but then the play was whistled dead before anyone touched it and the Southern Miss players quit going for the ball at the whistle. Should have gone back to Southern Miss. Glad it didn't since no one can say that gave us the game, but dead ball is dead ball. Any idea why they gave it to UTSA?

CUSA refs are terrible. That’s why it didn’t get overturned.

I was at the game, feeling at the time was that the refs thought he'd gone out of bounds prior to the fumble, but it was a typical CUSA ref call blowing the whistle.

RE: FINAL: USM 31 UTSA 29
After watching the replay several times, I noticed several things:

1. Jones let up on the block too soon, which allowed the defender to be able to get his hand in and knock out the football

2. Staggers was holding the ball like a loaf of bread which allowed the hand to get in.

3. The whistle was blown when the ref thought Staggers was out of bounds, and our players let up...However, the UTSA players didn't let up.

But, once the play is whistled dead, it's dead. If he had not been out of bounds and broken free for a TD, it shouldn't have counted either.

Any non-Eagle comments on the play?

He was not out of bounds...I looked. Also, neither was the UTSA player when he knocked the ball out..

UTSA fan here, and I agree completely. Play is over once the whistle is blown. Should have been USM ball. C-USA refs are garbage.
