Hugh? I have seen many times (including by me) a lack of faith in the personnel decision making, but I have never gotten the sense anyone here believes the coaches are trying to undermine the team.

What would you call it when several people who are not at every practice and meeting feel that they have a better idea as to who should play and that the coaches are holding back this team?

Because this staff played Graham ahead of Maddie last year. Because they played Graham ahead of Santa this year. Because they refused to play Huff last year and the first two games this year. Very questionable.

I rest my case.

Why? Because they were such terrific decisions? Coaches make mistakes. Ours just seem to make more...

Making the right/wrong decisions on personnel and playing time is a judgment call. Suggesting that any coach is intentionally undermining the team remains ridiculous.

I agree. To think that some coach has a hidden agenda when he chooses his starting lineup is ridiculous. They are paid based on performance and to think that they would not want to play the top performers is asinine.

Even Kill made mistakes with Grady and Me'Co. I personally think he wanted to win with his guys instead of Chandler and Spann (Novak's guys). Up to the fans to pressure the coaches into playing the right guys. Kill stayed with Me'Co for three games before finally starting Spann.

No not really. It's really easy.

I have never said that they don't make mistakes, but I also don't question everything they do.

He really looks hesitant. I'm wondering if he had orders not to run and throw the ball away. He did look a lot more aggressive running the ball in the two games last year.

After the numerous mistakes they have made I question everything. Hopefully they'll win me over soon so I can give them the benefit of doubt.

Do you really think the coaches listen to the fans when it comes to who plays?

Coaches are pressured by their own players at the college level as well. Tough to win a team over when you don't give your team thei best opportunity to win.

So playing time decisions are never made because players work harder and improve, it only happens because the coach realizes he made a mistake.

I got to beleve that Carey will play who ever thinks gives his team the best chance to win. Today that was Childers.

The coaches didn't help him but you can't throw 4 picks in 5 quarters... And think that your job is secure. Of course he should have only throw 2 picks if the coaches managed him better.

Here is why a play or two can not only be game changing, but season changing, even career changing. If we continue to pound the ball in the final 2 minutes against SDSU, and score, and win. Santa doesn't throw the 2nd (or 3rd) pick. Instead, fans are viewing him as the next Harnish; 5-0 with a Nebraska and SDSU victory under his belt. A comeback win against Nebraska, and a solid stat line against the country's 19th ranked team. Had this happened, he would have never been taken out of today's game, which, no matter who was the QB, we would have one. In less than a week, think how things have turned. Now we likely have a new QB and Santa may go to 3rd string with the return of Graham. Crazy!

Agree with everything but Graham should be fourth string after Santa and Thompson. Maybe give Thompson some reps as the wildcat QB as well. That won't happen though. I can't see Thompson being as good of a runner as Childers...

Bad moon rising, I am very impressed with your passion for NIU football.
Today you seemed complementary towards the coaches.
Pretty much agree with allot of your opinions today.
You were very positive today.
Keep up your incredible passion for NIU FB.

Thanks for that comment. I guess I've seen him be a better runner in the past too. Could it be the offensive line? They struggled to create holes against this D.

I get your point but he did miss that Sdsu int by 11 yards. It was a horrible throw and today's interception wasn't much better. His play is up and down. Still he has the best deep touch on the team.
Carey has to decide on the Qb who can throw but also make game changing mistakes vs the running QB.
