How about Iowa St head coach Matt Campbell?

- HC at Toledo for four years (2012-2015), winning division the last two
- Last season at Iowa St 3-9

So far this year, 3-2 with losses in Ames to Iowa (41-44) and Texas (7-17), and just beat #3 OU in Norman! Huge signature win.

I'm sure there are plenty more examples of G5 HC's being given the reins to a P5 program. How are they doing?

Ah, didn't realize NC St coach also from MAC. Nice! He's got them finally busted open the FSU/Louisville/Clemson stranglehold on the division.

After losing to ranked Mayland and USC teams, Tom Herman seems to be righting the ship at Texas. Now 3-2 with a OT win over K State to remain 2-0 in Bg12 play.

Kevin Sumlin (former UH Headcoach) is crushing it at A&M, managing not to get blown out by Alabama last night.

How about the Mountain West? Anyone from there currently HC for PAC or other teams?

I believe one of Boise St's coaches who made Boise St a household name in college football fan houses, is at Washington.

Yes you're right, Chris Peterson:

- eight seasons at Boise St (2006 - 2013), with a 92-12 record, two Fiesta Bowl wins, and three Las Vegas Bowl wins
- 8-6 and 7-6 at Washington in 2014 and 2015
- then the breakout 12-2 performance last year and a CFP birth for Washington

Looking great again this year

You mean getting crushed, this is his last year imo.

Small correction, NIU won the MAC West division in 2014 and 2015 (and the previous 4 years also). They had the same conference record as Toledo those 2 years but won the tiebreaker both years.

Very nice win for Campbell and Iowa State.

RE: Former G5 head coaches who are now HC at P5 programs, and how are they doing?
3 former Cincinnati head coaches:

Mark Dantonio: 94-43 at Michigan State, including 4 top-10 finishes in 10 years. This year: 4-1, including a win @ Michigan last week
Brian Kelly: 64-32 in 7 years at Notre Dame, including 2 BCS bowls. This year: 5-1, ranked #16. But he's ticked off a lot of alums with off-the-field stuff (like supporting a jumbotron, blaming players for losses, and allowing a video coordinator to get killed when his platform fell in high winds during a practice)
Butch Jones: 33-23 in 5th year a Tennessee. This year: 3-2, will probably be fired.

Kelly and Jones were also both formerly head coaches at Central Michigan.

Ah of course, how'd I not remember them?

(I think all this 'Fire Butch Jones' is just talk FWIW)

Willie T has 2-3 seasons max to turn Oregon around. Clock is ticking.

I was just going by his Wikipedia page. Whoever authored the section on his head-coaching record highlighted those years in a color that claimed winning the division title. Perhaps the author thought or wanted it to be the case that equal record meant co-champs. Anyway ...

Justin Fuente is doing pretty good in his first 2 years since leaving Memphis. 10 wins, a division title and ACC coach of the year last year; 5-1 ranked 15th and 17th so far this year.

Especially with the ACC on the rise these past couple of years.

He pretty much moved the program he had a Boise directly over to Washington.

Todd Graham (Tulsa, Rice) stinking up the joint at Arizona St.

Jeff Brohm (W Kentucky) resurrecting Purdue from the dead.

McElwain (Colorado St) doing decent at Florida.

Ditto Paul Johnson (Navy) at Georgia Tech.

Larry Fedora (Southern Miss) on and off at North Carolina.

Addazio (Temple) likely nearing the end at BC.

McElwain is NOT doing decent at Florida. We have been swimming in mediocrity with no offense since McElwain came here. There was a glimmer of hope with Grier at QB, then the bottom fell out. Getting blown out in Atlanta is NOT acceptable to the Gator Nation. He will be on the hot seat after this year.
