Pat Narduzzi Having Trouble Keeping Paris Ford Off Field
Paris Ford was Pitt's top recruit last year and one of the top 2-3 in PA. He missed camp because of academic issues that have since been resolved but up until this point, Narduzzi has kept him out in order to redshirt him.
I think Narduzzi should play him on offense. Pitt needs playmakers. If he's that good, he could help spark an offense that's been anemic. Although Pitt doesn't seem to have the greatest odds, they could still win the ACC this year. Put your best players in and let them make plays.
As a side note, Jordan Whitehead is Pitt's starting SS and he's also the team's best offensive player. With that being the case, why not burn the redshirt for Ford and use him on offense and ST exclusively and just keep Whitehead on defense?
What would you guys want your team's coach to do?

Narduzzi just needs to do a better job of keeping the other team's offense off the field...

At this point, he's already missed 5 games. I would redshirt him.

There's no point in redshirting a player if you don't think he will stay in school for a fifth year. If he is that good, you may never get the benefit of the redshirt.

The question for me is, "Would putting him in have changed the outcome of the 3 losses?" Narduzzi stated he doesn't know what defenses to call. That leads me to believe the answer is no. He might have also cost you the Youngstown game.
It might sound good to get him a years experience but he missed camp. He doesn't know the system. The coaches could call a blitz and he might go prevent. Ouch!
Leave him on redshirt.

Yep.
It would be beyond moronic to blow his redshirt at this point.

I think given our loss to Syracuse, he should redshirt at this time. I felt a lot more optimistic when I wrote the original post.
Now we have an interesting issue on our hands because Pickett's redshirt was blown today because of Dinucci's helmet coming off. The fact that they couldn't send MacVitte in for one play is unbelievable to me. My guess is they must have been contemplating playing Pickett this year to begin with.

Is Paris Ford a mythical unicorn? I hear rumors and rambling Pitt fans talk of him leaving the Dome last Saturday. Will he be Dungey's Kyrptonite in 2018?

He was the best recruit in Pitt's class in 2016 and one of the best HS players in PA. He's apparently very talented. And yes, he's a DB.
Dungey is clearly a talented guy, so I expect he's going to get his when Pitt plays Syracuse next year, however, I expect Ford to make a difference. Assuming Whitehead comes back, Whitehead, Hamlin, and Ford will likely be a talented unit.
By all accounts, Ford is talented enough to be on the field right now and would likely be one of Pitt's most talented players but he had an issue with academic eligibility at the beginning of the season which cost him his training camp and basically his ability to play this year.

Have they been decimated with injuries at that position? If not, don't burn the kid's redshirt year. It is not likely Pitt will be going bowling this season.

No, they aren't decimated with injuries in the secondary.
I think the allure of burning Ford's redshirt is that he could play offense. Currently, Pitt's best offensive player is their best defensive player - Jordan Whitehead. I think there's an argument to be made that it's worth burning Ford's redshirt to use Ford in that role on offense and save Whitehead for defense.
Then again, we're already to the point where we may be playing for 2018. With that being the case, you probably keep the redshirt on him. That's been my change of heart on it since the Syracuse game.
