Thanks. I guess the question is, was this the reason for the attack?

And when we compare Niger to Benghazi, I believe most are comparing an attack from AQ-type terrorists that killed 4 Americans and questions have been raised as to whether they were protected enough and whether there was an adequate response to the attack.

That is just what the terrorists do. One article I read said the Americans did not have an exit strategy, and were very much ambushed surprised. French helos tried to get in and rescue people but the fire fight was too closed in.

Doesn't sound much different at all. Other than the fact the the president and congress seemed to care a lot more about Benghazi.

The only real difference is that an ambassador was killed in the other one. This time it was just meaningless Green Berets I guess.

Don't act like you care one bit about the loss of American lives in either event. They are both merely political props for you and your side.

Dude, kindly STFU. You don't know me one bit. I have many relatives who served and a nephew currently in the Navy in Japan. Don't pretend to tell me you know how I feel about our military, living and/or deceased.

If you want to ***** about using dead Americans for political gain, then you should be totally outraged by what the GOP did with Benghazi. Are you?

The Ambassador and his team were abandoned. The failed Democratic Presidential nominee was then quoted as saying "what difference does it make?"...

I'm outraged by that.

I would like to know more about the Green Berets in Niger.. what they were doing there, what happened, and what our response is going to be.

You can't really compare the two tragedies other than the fact that Americans died.

that would be correct.....

he loves the irrelevant compare/contrast....

and Owl nailed it......we have no business there unless covert ops were required that Johnny IQ doesn't know about....at face value, that would appear unlikely other than the continuance of attempting to impose western culture on those that are incapable of understanding how to generate USD.....

sorry, Kap.....gotta disagree with ya on that one.....

No, they were not abandoned. Every investigation came to that same conclusion. And you can't just throw out H's comment like that with no context. Especially when it had nothing at all to do with his death or the response.

Quote:With all due respect, the fact is we had four dead Americans. Was it because of a protest or was it because of guys out for a walk one night who decided that they’d they go kill some Americans? What difference at this point does it make? It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again, Senator. Now, honestly, I will do my best to answer your questions about this, but the fact is that people were trying in real time to get to the best information. The IC has a process, I understand, going with the other committees to explain how these talking points came out. But you know, to be clear, it is, from my perspective, less important today looking backwards as to why these militants decided they did it than to find them and bring them to justice, and then maybe we’ll figure out what was going on in the meantime.

And isn't dying Americans alone enough to make them comparable anyway? I think so.

No rescue mission ever came, it never arrived. The next morning the remaining Americans hitched a ride to the airport, I think some locals gave them a ride.

I don't believe that's true. The nearby CIA team eventually responded and got the remaining Americans to the airport from what I remember reading on it.

Quote:Using fake names and disguised in wigs and mustaches, the operatives testified in United States District Court in Washington about how they had flown from Tripoli, the Libyan capital, to Benghazi with reinforcements to find Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, who had disappeared in an attack on the diplomatic compound there the night of Sept. 11, 2012. He later died from his injuries.

One of the C.I.A. operatives, testifying under the pseudonym “Alexander Charles,” said the agency immediately moved to send a rescue force to Benghazi after the attack on the diplomatic mission occurred about 9:40 p.m. Unable to mobilize Libyan government forces to help, the country’s top agency officer, the station chief, told Mr. Charles, who spoke Arabic, to hire a charter plane and head to Benghazi. The military also sent a drone to the scene of the attack.

RE: 3 Green Berets killed, 2 wounded in Niger ambush
The U.S. Embassy in Tripoli on its own organized a small rescue team and hired an aircraft, with no help from U.S. Africa Command in Stuttgart, Germany, or from Washington. Mr. Panetta did not know until the next day that he had two Delta Force commandos at the embassy, the only U.S. military forces to respond to Benghazi.
When the besieged and wounded Americans — dealing with the deaths of Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, his aide and two former Navy SEALs — finally reached the Benghazi airport, there were no U.S. military planes to get them out. They had to ride in the embassy-chartered flight and a Libyan C-130 that had been unable to fly at night.

Americans at Benghazi post were rescued by Qaddafi officer militia, report reveals
“In other words, some of the very individuals the United States had helped remove from power during the Libyan revolution were the only Libyans that came to the assistance of the United States on the night of the Benghazi attacks,” the report said.

“In other words, some of the very individuals the United States had helped remove from power during the Libyan revolution were the only Libyans that came to the assistance of the United States on the night of the Benghazi attacks,” the report said.

“At the end of the day, no military assets were ever moving toward Benghazi,” she said. “But for the bravery of a few Americans and the unexpected response of Qaddafi’s underground militia … there would have been an even greater loss of life that night.”

Still no mention from Trump’s twitter feed from October 4 till now mentioning what’s happened in Niger. 4 dead Americans from a terrorist ambush with no extraction and even weren’t able to account for a missing soldier. What was Trump doing? Rightly met with vegas victims but since has spent his time on Twitter talking about unfair coverage, flag protest bull****, fake new multiple times and went golfing. You Benghazi people who aren’t mad are some fake pieces of trash.

What was Trump doing? Rightly met with vegas victims but since has spent his time on Twitter talking about unfair coverage, flag protest bull****, fake new multiple times and went golfing. You Benghazi people who aren’t mad are some fake pieces of trash.

Your outrage is as phony as a 3 dollar bill.

Umm no it’s not I was in the infantry and spent my time at camp mckall. I was mad about Benghazi and I’m mad about this. So you can continue to hide behind your keyboard and dish out your fake patriotism together with your orange draft dodging demigod. Those people are my brothers

When your first instinct is to insult me and question my integrity, it lets me know I hit upon the truth.

What you were means nothing to me. Your outrage is still phonier than a 3 dollar bill.
