(05-05-2019 08:57 PM)Fort Bend Owl Wrote:  There's a new Sci-Fi movie that was released on Netflix today that's called The Wandering Earth. You probably have never heard of it but it's the #3 grossing movie in the world this year, having made over $700 million (behind Avengers: Endgame and Captain Marvel). Almost all of that money is from China, which makes sense because it's probably the most elaborate Chinese movie ever made.

I think if you like sci-fi, you'll like it. Basically Earth is dying and the only way we can survive is to move our planet into a new solar system. The special effects are super impressive, but again, it's a Chinese film so really the only way to enjoy it I think is to watch it in Chinese with American subtitles. It is interesting to see how the Chinese culture differs from ours, but also to see how the Chinese don't want this planet to die either. Now if they can just talk some sense into their neighbors in North Korea.

It was ok. Great CGI, story was so-so.

Veronica Mars is back streaming the whole series and movie on Hulu with new episodes.
A T and T bought the rights a few years ago to stream the series on one of their failed platforms so it’s been in limbo for a few years.

This is the show that made Kristen Bell (and kind of Amanda Seyfried as well) famous and is, frankly, my favorite tv series of all time.

I just rewatched season one and they hold up well (minus some technology issues, but Rob Thomas did nail how important social media etc would be to kids long before Facebook, Twitter became mainstream).

Watch the first three episodes and I promise you’ll be hooked even though Paris Hilton is stunt casted in the 2nd episode (she’s actually great playing a vapid rich girl, who knew?).

Im 6 episodes into "The Boys" and have really enjoyed it so far. The feel of it kinda reminds me a bit of "Bright" with Will Smith. If you like "The Boys" give the movie "Bright" a try. "Bright" basically takes the main societal groups of the Lord of the Rings and assumes they went on to become part of our current modern developed world.

If you like audio books, give The Booth at the End on Amazon Prime a try. This series takes place in a booth at a diner. The Man who sits in the booth at the end of the diner grants people's wishes. Each wish is fulfilled in exchange for completing a task that the man assigns after consulting his book. Often completion of the task comes at a terrible price...kinda "be careful what you wish for."

I listen to news, radio, podcasts...while going about my day. I've found it difficult to follow along with Netflix/Prime shows as the need to "watch" the screen is often necessary to follow the story. This series, while dark, takes place through conversations in a booth at a diner. The dialogue kept my interest, but may not be enough for those who need changing scenery and flashing images to hold attention.

Ok, I looked it up just for you. Paramount has an app to download to watch all the old and new episodes of Yellowstone. My cable provider AT&T U-verse has a contract with Paramount and the app worked for me. They had several other cable providers listed like Cox. Hopefully, your cable provider is listed.

Thanks. I will tell me wife. She enjoys audiobooks for her commute to and from work.

For $20 you can get Philo and stream all seasons.. Or do the week long free trial and do it... The season is only like 8 episodes long.. This season only has 3 more episodes.. I didn't think I'd like it, my wife likes a show called Younger on TV Land and we got Philo for it, but I caught Yellowstone love it.

Here's a show nobody watched: Greg the Bunny.. Lasted one season.. Had Seth Green, Eugene Levy, and Sarah Silverman.

My favorite character:

You’re very welcome. Just a tiny little word of warning.. Marcella and Line of Duty are UK productions with a lot of Irish and Scottish accents, so I’ve learned to watch with the CC on. (My CC is always on since my wife is deaf) It really keeps me from missing out on some of the dialog. Especially when the actors are speaking rapidly. That goes double for Fauda, which is an Israeli-Netflix production with a lot of Hebrew and Arabic. The Production values are excellent...it looks like a US Production.

I'm not sure if it was mentioned here yet but Prime has a show called Hannah that is really good.

Think Jason Bourne-esque. It has Joel Kinnaman in it (Suicide Squad, Altered Carbon, House of Cards).

I've got one episode left.

The Challenge on MTV. Bill Simmons calls it the 5th American sport and he's not completely wrong as there is a big athletic component in the last 25 seasons or so and some pretty brutal finals and challenges.

I think it has some of everything you'd want in a reality TV show and compelling characters some of which fans has watched evolve over 10 to 15 years. They give away a million dollars now so there is a higher level of seriousness and people really training for it.

New season premiers Wednesday. USA vs UK season.

Some of the challenges are incredibly intense, mentally and physically. A few years ago the final challenge was hiking up a damn Volcano.

I could do without the house drama, which stems from all the contestants being from some form of reality tv show on MTV or similar (Real World, Are You The One, Big Brother, etc). But it's part of the show and the draw for many people, and to see what former house-mates are doing if you followed their shows.

Also, I can't believe Johnny Bananas is still competing (and he has won a whole lot in the past). He must be pushing 40 haha

Bananas is 37 and CT is 39 and has been on these since 2004. They are pretty much why I still watch to see how they navigate the house/challenges along with some other old guys that play from time to time.

Bananas seems about like the same 23 year old frat douche for the most part but the rest have grown up a lot and have families. The final last year was like 50 miles in the Namibia desert over 2 days with basically no sleep in a steel box, puzzles eating gross crap. It's pretty crazy.

They destroyed some legit pro's/Olympians on their spin offs shows so they are good at what they do. TO, Arrian Foster, Shawn Merriman etc

Here is CT telling TO he's bankrupt and blew 70 million dollars and TO is ready to beat his ass on a show for charity. The drama's pretty good.
