I love British shows. The quips are lightning quick and you sometimes have to pause it to make sure you just heard what you thought you heard. Funny as hell. I’m sure some of it flies right over my head but I love it.

British shows are hit an miss with me. I'll usually watch about 10 minutes just to tell if I will be able to understand enough dialogue to follow the plot. For more than half of the shows the answer is no. lol...For me, many of the British shows may as well be in Spanish.

One of my new favorite shows is in Spanish. I don't mind the subtitles, and it's Mexican so the humor's a little closer than British humor. "Club of Crows" on Netflix. If you hate subtitles then hardpass on this one.

So, you stopped one episode from the season finale? Did it really take nine for you to figure out maybe it wasn't for you?

I've watched the whole first season. Like you with Ozarks, I bailed on Breaking Bad but did so during the third episode. I just couldn't get behind it and knew it wasn't going to be for me.

Working terrorism and transnational criminal org issues over the past decade of my career, I really have a hard time with the glorification of criminals these programs show. While there is some reality to what they depict they aren't documentaries. Instead they glamorize violence, criminals and various illicit activities.

I was able to stick with Ozarks though just because I'm somewhat intrigued by what most people would find the most boring part of the show and that's the money laundering angle. The family angle is interesting as well and then how Bateman's character is able to pull stuff out of his ass to save face for anther day. It will be interesting to see how he is able or if he is able to keep doing that. There certainly seems to be a more cerebral context to Ozarks than Breaking Bad.

I too had a problem with Breaking Bad in that production of drugs that definitely destroyed lives was being somewhat glorified. I quit watching in the first season for that reason and the fact that all of the first season was a real downer with the exception of the last episode. Then friends raved about it so much that I watched past the first season while the wife was out of town and got hooked. I still had reservations about what these people were doing but the writing and how they molded the story really was extraordinary. It took a concerted effort to get through the first season and a little bit more convincing my wife that it got better. She became hooked too.

I really like Better Call Saul. The characters and their development is very interesting.

I love Better Call Saul. Slippin’ Jimmy is my guy. As much as I like Jimmy I really like the character of Mike Ehrmantraut more. I could look in Kim Wexler’s wide set eyes all day long. It’s a really good show. Moves slow at times. Michael McKean as Chuck blows me away and makes it hard for me to remember him as Lenny from LaVerne and Shirley. Same guy though.

Anyhoo, as much as I love the show it causes me angst at Jimmy’ antics. There’s a German word that describes Jimmy better than any English word I could come up with.

Quote: Have you ever watched someone make a fool of themselves, only to find yourself cringing in embarrassment for them? Then you’ve most likely experienced fremdschämen.

This German word is made up of two parts, with fremd meaning “foreign” and schämen meaning “to be embarrassed.” The term is typically used to describe someone who feels embarrassment on behalf of someone else. The corresponding noun for this feeling is Fremdscham.

Jimmy has brought such fremdschämen on me that I’ve had to fast forward through some exchanges as they made me so uncomfortable for him. Lol.

Yep! Always looking for Squiggy to come bustin down the door saying "Hello!" Mike is everybody's favorite. The guy is the rock solid guy you can always trust as long as you are the up and up.

I didnt care much for Better Call Saul. Too slow and rambling---no real diresction. Other than one episode with Mike, I just found it kind boring. I stopped watching after season one. My brother in law told me the second season was much much better and that I should give it another shot. He was right. Loved season 2.

I've been watching Sneaky Pete the last few nights. At first it was OK but the last two episodes started to get on my nerves. Too many problems created by Pete's (not his real name) dishonesty. Not enough of something in that series. I'm looking for something food to watch after Ozark but haven't found it yet.

Fell into a show hole yesterday with Netflix's "Sense 8" Really great show about 8 people who are telepathically linked and are essentially one (can use each's others language comprehension and talents i.e morphing into each other's bodies to perform a task) Seems crazy but it actually works well on TV. Doesn't seem forced and actually is very addictive.

Anyone checked out Godless yet on Netflix? I've heard it is good.

Anxious for the next seasons of Peaky Blinders and WestWorld.

Been watching Mind Hunters. Interesting due to the different twist on a pair of FBI agents "trying" to understand the mindset of series killers. So far (4 episodes in) they haven't cracked the code. The most interesting part so far is the attitude these guys have (much different than what I would think of an FBI agent). I'll give it a few more episodes as the characters are at least not your usual.

I really enjoyed Mindhunters. Another series I watched on Netflix right after I finished that was Manhunt, which chronicles the hunt for the Unabomber in the mid 90's. Both great series IMO. Can't wait for season 2

The "Long Road Home" TV mini-series on National Geographic channel is fantastic. Its based on a book by Martha Raddich (who was imbedded in an army unit during the Iraqi War) detailing a major engagement where a US platoon was ambushed and trapped in Sadr City. Its not a documentary. Its a live action scripted TV mini-series with some fairly well known actors. Its very good and reminds me a lot of Black Hawk Down.

Anybody watch Priest? Not a fan but I understand the appeal.

Sadly, Halt and Catch Fire ended after its fourth season.

Has anybody watched Mindhunter?

Reruns on DVD of THE FUGITIVE--original TV series.Excellent award winning series with many well known guest stars. One of the best TV dramas--ever!!

BONUS--this series can also give you a good feel of everyday life in the 1960's as long as you ignore the occasional(only very occasional) stereotype.

Mindhunter was good. It really picks up in the last few episodes so don't give up early.

Watching that now. I think its pretty good so far. My Wife made me watch "The Marvelous Mrs Miesal" on Amazon. Its was a little more of a chick show than I prefer, but it was pretty funny. Its set in the in the mid-to late 1950's a few years before Mad Men. FWIW--It was a lot better than some of chick shows Ive had to endure.

Wife wanted The Marvelous Miss Maisel sp? and we did that for a week. Yes it is kind of a chick thing.

Now we are watching Tin Star on Amazon. We are about half way through and it is very good.

If you haven't watched Stranger Things, you should try it. It is somewhat for kids but has enough suspense to keep the attention of adults.
