The season finale of Counterpart was on last night. There was a lot of clarity as the season progressed on the plot and who was who. Some very good acting as many played two parts as their part and counterpart. I'm glad for the clarity as it was quite confusing at the beginning of the season.

Yeah the episode where the rift was discovered and management was formed was very intriguing and explained a lot. I thought the following seasons would suck if they were about rounding up the leftover crossovers...then grandpa dropped dead. Gonna be a wild ride with an epidemic going on next season.

Also curious about the Howard/Howard/Emily thing. Emily prime is dead. Howard prime has feelings for other Emily that he can't reconcile with his real wife. Other Howard didn't give a **** about other Emily but I believe developed regrets about that spending time with Emily prime. Curious to see if one or both end up trying to get with her and end up at each other with Howard prime blaming Howard for the death of his Emily. Could get interesting, but I like when Howard and Howard are working together. The show is better for it.

I really like the show. The set up is a little slow sometimes. If you aren't paying close attention you can get lost in a hurry, but it's worth the effort. That Farmer's Ins guy (Howard) is a very good actor to pull off the two very different characters but leave enough common ground between them to be believable. He knows where Howard Prime would stop for moral reasons and he knows that other Howard has no boundaries and is a total badass. That scene at the airport or train station when he took out the kids was amazing. No hesitation or thought just do the ******* job.

The Umbrella Academy on Netflix rocks. I think I enjoyed it more than Stranger Things. Maybe because at its core, it's a story about a giant, dysfunctional family (more than another superhero show), and I can certainly relate to that.

Watched the first episode of The Umbrella Academy and it was very good despite my distaste for Ellen Page. A lot of good music in this series.

Its a time travel mini-series where the protagonist is going back in time to try stop the Kennedy assassination. Ive only watched the fist two episodes---but its very good so far. A couple of things worth noting---this is a show that is a collaboration between Steven King and JJ Abrams--based on a book by King. The second thing that I really like so far---this show has put a different spin on the time travel genre that makes it much more eerie and dark. This is a Hulu original production and they actually placed a few pretty recognizable faces on the cast (James Franco, Chris Cooper, Josh Duhamel--among others). Definitely worth a watch.

I watched 11-22-63 when it first appeared. Very good show. The sixties’ sets were impressive.

Half way through The Umbrella Academy. This series gets better and better as it goes along. I am hooked! Not to mention that there is some good music in it. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

The trailer.

I liked the Umbrella Academy as well. I probably liked Stranger Things more--but the two shows are really quite different. Growing up watching many of Spielbergs movies, I really enjoyed the way a number of Stranger Things scenes were kind of a tribute to Speilberg's works (much like Super 8). Umbrella Academy to me was more comparable to the Marvel superhero films. Not as big budget or as CG laden as the Marvel stuff---but I kinda got that entertaining Guardians of the Universe attitude from the series. I thought it was fun and entertaining.

Gotta pay yet ANOTHER subscription to get it. Everyone loves this cord cutting crap, but all I see is instead of one bill where I can see everything I want I now have to suffer death by a 1000 cuts to watch things I'd like to see.

Orville will get me my Sci Fi fix.

Yup and with Disney+ coming and them doing Star Wars TV shows that will be a must have. I had just discussed dropping Amazon Prime because there really isnt a whole lot I watch on it anymore, but then heard they are doing a Lord of the Rings "Prequel" about the forging of the one ring and the fall of Numenor.04-jawdrop

This 01-rivals never ends. Dozens of vampires out to suck my my wallet dry.

I know I can be a bit of a Netflix shrill, but basically that's all I watch anymore anyway. Its new adult cartoon series Love, Death and Robots is amazing. But warning, it's not for children at all. There are I think 18 animated shorts of various types of animation style (but all the ones I've seen so far are of amazing quality), and they are all unique shorts with I guess a common theme of love, death and robots (and nudity - lots of animated nudity in a few of them). The language is definitely R rated too.

I've only seen 4 of them so far as I'm going in order. But they were all pretty good. Sonnie's Edge is the first one and is like UFC meets robots. Three Robots is a bit of comedy relief compared to some of the others. The Witness is graphic as hell but has a really interesting ending. And Suits is my favorite I think of the four - more cartoonish in style than computer graphic-driven, but I liked it a lot, even if I don't know if I understood its ending.

Buster Scruggs

I watched it yesterday. Better done than most things you’ll find streaming anywhere. As a young guy recently married with free HBO for awhile I stumbled across ‘Blood Simple’ on a late night playing. Of course I had to VHS record it and probably still have it somewhere in the attic. That was my introduction to the Coen Brothers. It was like nothing I’d ever seen before and they have rarely disappointed since.

The first vignette was downright whimsical. The Coen brothers have a recurring group they use and every single one of them nails what they want out of them.

If you haven’t seen the Fargo series, I can not recommend the first two seasons enough. Not the Coen bros but definitely pays homage to their style without trying to be too copycat. Probably my favorite thing ever on TV.

This may have been discussed but I don’t feel like diving deep into this thread. Anyone watch True Detective Season 3?

Yes I have seen all the Fargo and True Detective seasons. I liked all of the Fargo seasons. True Detective season 1 was fabulous, season 2 sucked, season 3 was very good.

I'm waiting for Hanna on Prime which comes out tomorrow. The movie was excellent and I hope the series is as good.

TRailer for Hanna series
