RE: CAA Week 6 Standings & Games.
Week 6 games:

Maine (1-2/0-2) @ #12 VU (3-2/1-1) (-7) (1 PM, CBS Digital).
I'll take Nova to win outright, but not cover. Close low-scoring game. Something like 17-14.

W&M (2-2/0-1) @ #18 Elon (4-1/2-0) (2 PM) (pk game- neither favored).
W&M's offense is not good. Ride the hot surprise team at home.

#24 Albany (3-2/1-1) @ #14 RU (2-2/0-1) (-4.5) (3 PM, CSN Mid Atlantic).
Ticks win and cover - something like 38-24.

UD (2-2/0-1) @ #23 SBU (4-1/3-0) (-4) (6 PM).
UD has too many question marks at QB and offense. SBU wins, but does not cover...another low-scoring game that the home team pulls out something like 14-13.

RE: CAA Week 6 Standings & Games.
Any of those games could go either way, but these are my straight-up picks...

Maine - Bednarczyk is questionable and they lost Buchannan lister Rob Rolle. Maine coming off a second bye.
Elon - Two teams going in different directions.
Albany - Maybe a little heart over head here, but UR really has no defense. They're like 2015 JMU.
Delaware - Delaware's defense held JMU to one score. They have a good enough defense to overcome a poor offense. Rocco seems to have changed QBs, so I'm not sure how that affect's SBU's preparations.

RE: CAA Week 6 Standings & Games.
As 95 already mentioned
-VU not having Bednarzik and having to go with a rFr QB
-Rolle being out for the season
-Maine coming off another bye,

In addition this will be the 1st game back for Maine's All CAA WR Micah Wright. I would be surprised if Maine didn't win this one.

I don't get the VU -7. If I was a gambling man I would be all over that one for Maine to cover (and win outright).

I agree with you there except it's hard to handicap without knowing the status of Albany's pre season All CAA/All American RB Elijah Ibitokun-Hanks. He has only played in 2 games. Didn't play in the 1st 2, played the next 2, then dnp last week vs Elon. If no Hanks Albany's running game not as good.

I don't think Albany has the offensive fire power to keep up with Lauletta. Albany appears to have a decent defense, but that only means so much when you're going up against one of the best QBs in the entire country. He will find the end zone no matter what at least a few times.

We've never seen Ibitokun-Hanks, so tough for me to understand how big of a loss that really is.

He is the running back equivalent to Lauletta and Schor. When healthy, arguably the best RB in the conference.

RE: CAA Week 6 Standings & Games.
This was an Albany article from last week before their loss @ Elon:
"Junior running back Elijah Ibitokun-Hanks was ruled this week to be “out indefinitely” as he continues to try to come back from a knee injury he suffered during last year’s final game.

Ibitokun-Hanks missed UAlbany’s first two games of the season, played in the Great Danes’ win against Monmouth and missed last Saturday’s win against Villanova. The junior rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries against Monmouth..."

The article also mentions the nonsense of Albany having to stay in VA and bus to Elon.
https://dailygazette.com/article/2017/09...ds-to-elon

Elon rushed for 368 against RU. Summers had 294. With a healthy Ibitokun-Hanks I think you'd see similar- as 95 already stated, RU's defense is terrible (esp their rush defense). But without Ibitokun-Hanks I don't think Albany will be able to run all over RU, so with RU being at home, coming off of a bye, and it being Albany's 2nd straight game on the road, I'd go with RU..

We need for someone to beat Stony Brook. They don't play us, Villanova or Elon.

If any other team can finish the CAA undefeated, it's them.

True, but I'd be shocked if they ran the table:
10/7 UD
10/14 UNH (UNH coming off bye).
10/21 Bye
10/28 @ UR
11/4 Albany
11/11 Wagner
11/18 @ Maine

Yeah, thus far SB has defeated URI, Towson, and squeaked past W&M. They might be undefeated in CAA play, but their victories aren’t that convincing. Maine, UD, and UNH should be far tougher games.

CAA Week 6 Standings & Games.
I’m taking the VU performance with a grain of salt. Their D is getting the job done, but it’s more that Maine’s offense is god awful today. They marched it to the 5ish yard line and fumble it for a nearly full field scoop and score.
They throw an interception and it’s returned to the 40. Their defense is gassed and doesn’t put up a fight on VU’s 40 yard drive.
One drive later, another quick INT.
Maine’s offense is single handedly losing the game for them.

RE: CAA Week 6 Standings & Games.
Yeah, I was just looking at the Game Tracker:
-Maine's 1st possession punt was block, led to VU's 1st TD
-Maine's 2nd possession they failed to convert on a fake punt (4th and 8 from your own 43, what kind of idiotic call is that?) (Maine defense held).
-Maine's 1st possession 2nd qtr fumbled at VU 3 yard line, VU recovered at the 9 and 91 yards scoop and score for TD. That right there is a 14 point swing.
-Maine's 2nd possession 2nd qtr threw INT, led to VU's 3rd TD.
-Maine's next possession 2nd qtr throw ANOTHER INT (Maine defense held).

So Maine has had 3 turnovers, suffered a blocked punt, failed to convert a fake punt, and was once held on downs. All 3 of VU's scores have been been set up by their defense & special teams..

Elon is looking really good this year, we might only put up 30-40 on them instead of the usual 60.

RE: CAA Week 6 Standings & Games.
Elon is a top CAA team this year. That may be our toughest remaining CAA opponent other than VU next week.

VU's defense is just as good, maybe slightly better than the two we just faced with Maine and UD. Maine's offense is sucking big time today, executing far worse than they did against us. It looks like they weren't ready to play this game. Maybe we shouldn't consider Harysimiak. The guy is given two bye weeks in three weeks and he is 0-2 following them. Maine is looking at 7-4 at best to finish their season. They're on the playoff bubble already.

Albany moves the ball easily into FG range but misses the FG against UR.
