Eastern is not going to be beaten by twenty points as some of you have predicted. You haven't played anyone of note, and lost by twenty points to the only team of note. You have no defense. Eastern has a very good chance of winning this game.

so good a chance of winning that Vegas made Toledo a 10 point favorite.... so you must know more than Vegas, or you are just going to never return to the board if they lose. That is pretty typical.

Nebraska was at least a 10 point favorite vs. NIU too...

If you're basing the chance of winning on the Vegas line, then it's the same thing, since the line was the same for the Nebraska game as it is for this game.

I guess Ken Barna was right, though. Eastern ended up with a very good chance of winning.

The was a strange game in so many ways.

No terry and no thompson and we still bested them. If someone would have told me that was going to happen I would have guaranteed a loss.

I never made a formal prediction other than to suggest 60 points (Over/Under) seemed a lot to those who have watched EMU play.

P.S. we need to be careful about statistics involving games with multiple OTs. Points scored in OT are not similar to points in regulation time (Unless EMU punters keep giving opponents the ball near the red zone). This isn't like OT in the NFL.

Also, case in point yesterday's WMU/UB game which skewed a lot of statistics.

You don't know me, and I don't know you, but to think that Las Vegas is the be all to predicting winners in any athletic contest is just laughable. I hope you do know that much of their predicting is based on who is betting on whom. So, just because most are betting on Toledo, doesn't mean that is how it is going to turn out. That is why we play the game.

no - that would determine the point spread not the favorite. It's just that there are not enough of you who think Eastern is going to win. The opening line was 14 and it went down to 10 by kickoff.

Do you really think that Vegas picks the winner every time - or is that what you think I believe? The point spread is pretty indicative of what the outcome is expected to be. Do you think they have some numb nuts making those spreads up with no information?? Does that mean there is 0% chance of Eastern winning - no. But I'll take the Vegas line over some fan from EMU who seems to think their 2 wins in 4 games were against top competition while Toledo played nobody.

BTW - if Toledo's defense sucks, what does that say about Eastern's offense?

So a team beats the Vegas line. So what?? It's called an upset. Then you find out that Nebraska team is not very good - and the first two NIU touchdowns are on interceptions. If you were so sure NIU was going to win and didn't bet every dime you had on the game, then you are not very good at grabbing sure-fire opportunities. Once again, the point spread reflects the most likely outcome of a game based on a lot of people with a lot of knowledge about college football. Do you think this is what the blackjack players do in their spare time?

Just saying that a 10-point spread still leaves a decent chance of winning for the underdog.
