Realistic Realignment Scenario:
What happens if the ACC kicks 07-coffee3 to the curb and invites WVU from the Big 12?

Pretty extreme cases of kicking a team out of a league. Penn State going full ped didn't even get kicked out of the Big 10. Nothing is changing until 2025 at the earliest.

A lot of those ACC programs are dirty. They're not going to get a supermajority to set that precedence.

Penn State didn't get the death penalty, and have it's accreditation stripped, a very real possibility for Louisville.

What if the playoff conferences try to reduce the amount of scholarships the nonplayoff conferences get ?

RE: Realistic Realignment Scenario:
07-coffee3 getting kicked out is a real possibility because they have no history in the ACC compared to say UNC@Chap.

I would argue that UCONN gets the invite, not WV.

Question is do we back fill UCONN with 07-coffee3

Simple. Big 12 finally makes its move, adds Houston, Cincinnati and one other school. Maybe Colorado State. I am not sure who the third team would be.

That is easy: UMASS

UMASS is a perfect fit for the MWC.

Not realistic. They aren't kicking UL out. Even if they did, it wouldn't be WVU that they'd invite.

RE: Realistic Realignment Scenario:
WVU has given its rights to the B12, so there would be much less in the way of legal battles for the ACC to add an American Conference school like UConn.

Nah, geography does not work. They would be the first choice of the AAC.

Nah, geography does not work. They would be the fist choice of the AAC.

Sorry. I edited my post. Considering geography, and the fact that the AAC was choosing between Tulsa and UMASS during the last round, it is logical they would re-evaluate and add UMASS this round, if Uconn was lost. Somebody has to replace the New England market.

I think several of scenarios following 07-coffee3 being kicked out are possible:

-ACC bids and succeeds for Notre Dame to join
-ACC steals UConn away, AAC backfills
-ACC steals WVU away, BXII backfills
-ACC steals WVU away, BXII does nothing
-ACC steals WVU away, BXII kicks out Baylor, backfills with 2-6 teams
-ACC steals WVU away, BXII disbands ahead of schedule

The Notre Dame option is interesting but I think they don't budge. I think buyers remorse will have the ACC going with UCONN. They fit the perceived academic/basketball model.

Zero indication UMass was ever in the picture.

They aren't. If UCONN leaves we abandon the northeast.

Pretty extreme cases of kicking a team out of a league. Penn State going full ped didn't even get kicked out of the Big 10. Nothing is changing until 2025 at the earliest.

Penn State didn't get the death penalty, and have it's accreditation stripped, a very real possibility for Louisville.

Miami would never vote for this, because they'll be following them out the door. UNC, while arrogant, can't like this precedence being set given their current position.

They won't lose their accreditation over a sports scandal. The holes were caught passing over 3100 students through fake classes. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools gave them 1 year probation. Link
They might get the death penalty.
