I thought we were supposed to be playing OOC this season? ECU's basketball schedule was released and it is TERRRRRIBLE... but is also missing the Golden Eagles.

I seem to recall a thread over here (and on ECU247) that we were playing this season... ??

I guess if you are looking for any response, most of us were surprised to hear that USM and ECU have basketball teams.

Maybe I should be nicer. Perhaps ECU and USM basketball schedules aren't exactly a priority in early October. Was that better?

Haha true!

When we were in C-USA, Southern Miss had a good basketball program.

It's certainly telling when ECU fans are looking forward to basketball in early October.

Actually, I don't think ECU's basketball schedule is that bad. Almost all home games, Wilmington and Charlotte coming to Greenville. It's far from sexy, but at least you guys aren't scheduling N.C. Wesleyan or Chowan or Virginia U-Lynchburg anymore.

The worst was when we scheduled an NAIA school (Lee University) and lost at home.

Historically, we schedule terribly. Some awful ones I remember off the top of my head:

Coker College (D2)
UVA-Wise (D2)
Limestone College (D2)
NC Wesleyan (D3)
St. Andrews (NAIA)
Montreat (NAIA)
Erskine (D2)
Lenoir-Rhyne (D2)
Fayetteville State (D2)

When you were in C-USA, Southern Miss had a good <insert most any sport here> program

I asked on the main Southern Miss board and no one knew. We got the story from East Carolina's 247 Sport site, who quoted a Tweet from "The D1 Docket". Maybe you can track down an answer there? We were told it would be December 14th. We now play Alabama A&M on the 13th and William Carey on the 16th. I promise we didn't drop a home game against ECU for either of those.

Sam Anderson posted on September 11th that we wouldn't be playing.

I tried to think of some and can't think of any as well. When you lose to high schoolers in the Bahamas, it doesn't make me want to know their names.

I know them all. I am an optimistic sort.

Tyree Griffin is the real deal. We have a true PG now. Cortez Edwards will be able to contribute more now without having to play out of position so much. Draine, the freshman, is going to be a stud.
We will compete for a change.
Still a year or two away from doing much damage, but basketball is going to be fun again. Give them until Christmas to gel a bit.

Sorry USM, but Lebo couldn't fit all the HBCU's he insists on playing AND you on the schedule. Something had to go, and logically it was the team we have a long history of playing.
