UR: 6-4 (or maybe 7-3.)
VMI: 9-0-1 (When I was at JMU from 88-94, we used to have our hands full with them)
Liberty: 7-3 (for now)
ODU: 5-5
W&M: 7-3
NSU: 9-1

Not going to lose to ODU five times, either. l'll take the seven wins against UR
We don't beat tech 2 of 10 games

No way....

Agree, if we are very specifically speaking hypothetically about this year's teams, it could be as low as .5 against Tech. Again talking about this year, RU would be fortunate to get 2 wins and LU 1. NSU get's zero.

I think we're kidding ourselves if we think we'd beat UVA consistently. They don't suck this year, and they still have those extra FBS warm bodies on the bench.

If you look at our recent FBS wins, we caught Tech flat footed on a short week after a crushing loss. We beat SMU in the typical FBS-FCS shootout. And ECU is just horrible. Easily one of the biggest steaming piles of crap in college football.

I think the recent WVU and UNC games are more realistic. You don't waltz into the home of a decent FBS program and dominate, or even hang close.

Do we ever get to play those teams at home? No.

They only beat W&M 28-10, and W&M looks to be pretty down this year. I agree this year's UVA team is better than they've been in some time, but they're not world beaters by any stretch either. I don't know how many we would win against them if we played them 10 times, but I suspect most games would be pretty close.

Our D keeps us in a lot of games, good rushing attack keeps the clock moving. That's the formula usually for beating good FBS teams, and we have both. Not many teams would blow us out, and if you're in a game in the 4th quarter you can win it. VT wouldn't blow us out, and they're easily the best team in this comparison.

This!

In the Mickey and Withers days, I would have agreed with the"we are kidding ourselves" post but not under Houston. He is using a lot of what worked in the Mickey Matthews era but allowing his o coordinator to use the entire playbook. That is leading to 28-10 wins instead of 14-10 wins or 17-14 losses.

RE: Ranking Virginia Football Teams
At the halfway point to the regular season, the top 3 programs in the state of Virginia are doing really well...

16-2 overall record
Dukes 6-0, ranked #1 in the nation
Hokies 5-1, ranked #14 in the nation...only loss to defending champ Clemson
Frenchies 5-1, received some poll votes this week...only loss to Indiana

We'll see what happens during the 2nd half of the season schedule. UVA has very winnable games in their next 2 (vs BC and at Pitt) to get to 7-1 and a decent shot at beating GT (who they've had their way with at Scott Stadium over the last 25 years) and getting to 8-1 with a probable ranking by then if they do...the rest of November is brutal for them on the schedule though...at UofL, at Miami, home vs VPI&SU. While I'm skeptical of it happening, wouldn't it be something if the Commonwealth Clash right after Turkey Day (on Black Friday this year) decided the ACC's Coastal Division.

ESPN CGD has made 2 trips to the state in the first half of the season. Good times.

UVA missed a FG and also had a terrible throw to a wide open WR in the endzone on a 4th down. That game could have easily been 35-10. W&M's TD game with 7 minutes left in the game are were down 2+ possessions the entire seconds half. UVA also went out to Boise on a short week and won by 19 when I think they were 3 point dogs. Boise is a solid team that just knocked off a ranked SDSU and took a ranked Wash St (who did look awful Friday) to OT.

I agree that there will be close games and they aren't world beaters but I'm not going to let a 18 point win over W&M convince me that we would go better than 3-7
