We haven’t seen very much of Schwab. Should be interesting.

RE: Kyle out for the year
Schwab was a beast in the Kent State game last year. He was a tackling machine and made some big tackles on third and fourth downs. I think he's going to be solid. Obviously Pugh is a special player. Schwab may not be Pugh but I don't think our D will crumble like we did when our MLB went down in 2003. Can't remember his name right now but the dude was a beast. Our D was never the same. But I'm confident Schwab will do a great job.

Nick Duffy. And yes, that was a huge loss for the 03 team.

Duffy was a beast. He was making a bunch of plays. When he went down, the guy that replaced him didn't make nearly as many plays and it was obvious. Again I think Schwab will do a great job, hopefully he can keep the job if he plays like he did in last year's game.

RE: Kyle out for the year
The way I understand the rule...IF NIU makes the MACC Kyle would qualify to apply for a medical red shirt. If he is actually awarded it or not is up to the NCAA. Since he took a RS his FR year it will be tough to qualify but there is a chance.
Why NIU needs to get to the MACC...NIU needs to play 14 games so that Kyle would have played in <30% of the games this season which is the first qualification to apply.

Thanks for the explanation. I was wondering if he could apply for a medical red shirt, and of course if he would.

Or if it goes by quarter can NIU play a 12 OT game vs Toledo and win 184-183, that would give him <30% of quarters

No way he would get it. Maybe if he hadn’t taken his redshirt year already

I agree the only way he gets a 6th year medical redshirt is if he loses a good portion of his Jr or Sr year to injury. Let's hope that's not the case.

I did not see it go by quarters...I guess something to look up when I have time.
